• The White City

    6–8 maj 2024, Peru ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Our 2nd UNESCO World Heritage site of our trip was Arequipa aka the White City, because of the white vulcanic stones used to build the old city center. Having as many inhabitants as Cologne, the old city center was really peaceful & quite.
We really loved our visit to the Santa Catalina monastery which was a city in the city including different streets, once giving place to +200 Dominican nuns! They lived in complete isolation...
The Plaza de Armas is the main square of the place where the cathedral took a complete side of it... Huuuuuge! Having a Pisco Sour with a view on the cathedral from a bar on top of the arcades seemed a good idea to us, however, our bellies thought differently afterwards - clearly a tourist trap... at least we could take a lovely selfie there...
In the evening we decided we deserved a good piece of meat, having an Alpaca steak... surprisingly nice!
