Well we made it. What an adventure . Seem so much, been supported by so many and had the a fantastic walking buddy to keep me going.

Day 57

A great penultimate day. Even the cows couldn’t stop us. We chased them with dock leaves.

Not as sunny today and route not always so clear.
Still great views, except for the dumped rubbish.

Day 55

Brochs and abandoned villages where those forced out by the Highland clearances came to lived.
Tiny harbours once full of herring fleets and an amazing coastline .

Another stunning day.
Cows dozing on the beach, seals bobbing about and miles of coastline to ourselves.
After taking off sock and boots to ford a river that came on to the beach, we were met on the Czytaj więcej

Fantastic day and we have now done 1001.5 miles.
End of day at Brora with a yummy ice cream and a sea view for the eve .

Only a small amount through woodland, the rest on roads.
Crossed the Dornoch Firth.

Not the most exciting day but lovely lanes and the causeway to cross.
Interesting monument on top of the hill near Eventon.

At last we had our short day.(16.4miles).
Easy walk in woodland and then down to Inverness.
Nice walk by the river and then out of Inverness over the bridge.

Sorry for the delay in posting, but no reception last night.
Yesterday was stunning, with great views down Loch Ness.
It got hotter as the day went on but Colin was there at the end with ice creams Czytaj więcej

What a wonderful day.
Only a brief shower early on, then clear skies and wonderful views.
Thank goodness for painkillers. Keeping us both going.

So we’re now on the Great Glen Way.
We started at Neptune’s Staircase and then walked beside Loch Lochy .

Day 46

We said goodbye to Ollie and started the day going up the Devil’s Staircase.
It wasn’t as bad as it’s name suggested.
Wonderful views all around and then a steep descent to Kinlochleven for a Czytaj więcej

Moorland and cloud.
Followed the West Highland Way close to the railway line to Forth William, but sadly no trains.
Stunning views.
21 miles.
Day 44

Not many pics today but the West Highland Way was like the M6! We passed at least 60 people.

Most of the day was coming up the side of Loch Lomond. Still some more to do tomorrow .
Ol did a great job meeting us for our breaks.
Sunny all day for our 22.2 mile walk.
Day 42

At last we’re on the West Highland Way.
Finished off the canal and then an old railway line.
Glad to see the honesty box refreshment places are appearing .

We travelled back to Linlithgow by train this morning.
Our route continued on the Union Canal to the Falkirk Wheel and then joined the Forth and Clyde canal.

Longest day yet (25 miles).
Views a plenty but tired legs.
The giant horse heads are Kelpies. They’re 100ft tall!
Now two thirds of the way there.

A great day on a drovers lane. Home made cake from Mary’s friend Jeanie and she made me a beanie hat!

A walk up the Tweed and the offer of a mug of tea from some ladies backing up some runners. Of course we said yes.
Great views once up the hills and the view of an art work cut in to the heather .

Day 37

Wonderful weather after a misty start.
A short, easy day, so enjoyed some R&R back at Nancy’s house, where we staying for a few days.
A cool cider in Melrose .
Day 36

A long walk down Dere Street Roman Road. Lots of low cloud but we made it in to Scotland.
19 miles today.
Day 35

A bit of excitement when Mary almost stood on an adder and a bullock thought it might join us at our picnic site!
Nice B&B tonight.

Another day of showers.
Views of Hadrian’s Wall and Kielder Forest . And a strange Moss Man! 16 miles.
