Got up fairly early again to see as much of the greatness of Petra as possible. Due to the conflict between Palestine n Israel tourism is very light. Barely any foreigners. What a privilege to enjoy some of the greatest cultural treasures there are in the world with only a few other people. The entrance into the canyon is great but the opening to where the Treasury is is just grand. All this was built about 2200 years ago by the nabateans n the Romans added on later. Its a 4km walk end to end with a wonderful climb up al deir monastery negotiating over 900 steps. Or as many do take a donkey. Heading the same way back around 5pm is the biggest reward as most tourists had already left. I have the treasury for myself except 2 camels some tourist police and the occasional visitor. Enjoying pizza 🍕 for dinner and a beautiful sunset :)Les mer
