Day 8: off to Finland!

3,880 km in, we woke up in Laksev, Norway.

Met a nice guy from Michigan and experienced some more Norwegian hospitality when we found our campground.

We are driving south today to Finland and to the next series of challenges.

Today we are making our way south of the Arctic circle in Finland, on the way we decided to stop and see if Santa was home. Lucky for us, he was!!

Day 10: Leaving Oulu

We did our first Holiday Park camping night at the beach in Oulu. Hundreds of summer campers occupy this beach and drag racers can be heard all night (which wasn’t dark).

It was a good night sleep and hot showers were amazing 😍😍😍

This morning we are headed to Lake Pielinen for today’s challenge.

Trade a sack of potatoes for an invitation to dinner.

Well I'm not sure that was exactly the goal of the challenge but we did offer potatos and we received the Karjalan piirakka. They were delicious!
TravelerOK so online it says rye bread, but these look like twice baked potatoes. What does it taste like?

TravelerIt tasted like egg salad on potato bread but the egg salad was made with butter and not mayo. It was different from anything we’d eaten before but if I saw it in a market, I would definitely get one again.
