  • Day 2

    June 25, 2024 in France ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

On day 2 of our journey, we had a lovely day out at the Réville Beach…a breathtaking scenery with rocks on the shore laying dry until the high tide returns, making it able to walk around to the lighthouse. • Day 3

    June 26, 2024 in France ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

“La Mer” - by far one of the most popular French songs and a truly magnificent song it is. That’s what came to my mind the very second I saw this scenery. It’s the Cherbourg harbour, seen from the motorway. A splendid moment seeing this while listening to “La Mer”!
On the third day, we didn’t do anything special…we had to check the shops in town.

All this is housed in an old ship building yard, that’s filled its purpose for many decades.Read more

  • Day 6

    June 29, 2024 in France ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Day 6 is a very important day in Cherbourg and its surrounding area. The 29th is when Cherbourg was freed from Nazi occupation by the allied forces during World War 2. The allies Canada and U.S. arrived on Normandy’s shores on the 6th (D-Day) but different areas were liberated on different days. Thus, starting from the 6th of June, pennant chains are to be seen everywhere. They feature the U.S.-American, Canadian, British and French flag and are hung everywhere in the sake of remembrance. In the village, that is part of Cherbourg, where we decided, the celebration was carried out with a festival where plays and musical performances were held. It was a blast visiting the celebration!Read more
