Deltaworks Zeeland

An hour drive to Zeeland and the Delta Works. The Netherlands had a massive flood back in 1953 that breached all the dikes and killed a few thousand people. So it was decided that a massive new plan was needed to keep the sea water out. It took 30 years to complete and cost 5 billion Euros. It was expected to last some 200 years but with the climate changing and the waters rising, now they are looking at 2050 which is coming fast
so the Water Commission is hard at work figuring out if there is some way to save the Netherlands. There was a great recreation film of the 1953 flood that we watched and I took some videos which I'll post some day.
