  • Golden Circle: Thingvellir

    Today we drove the Golden Circle. Stop one was Thingvellir National Park. It’s where the North American and Eurasian plate meet and create a fissure, making some pretty cool landforms! (Post 1 of 4)

  • Golden Circle: Kerid & Reykjadalur

    Stop 4/5 was Kerid Crater. This is an old volcano turned into a crater and lake. We hiked the rim before heading to Reykjadalur Valley. This valley is full of geothermal activity. We hiked for a bit and then checked out a geothermal brewery and cafe. It is run 100% on geothermal energy. (Post 3 of 4)Read more

  • By the Harbor

    When we got back into the city, we went to a food hall by the harbor. I got a lamb pita. I’m trying to eat as much of the Icelandic lamb that they are famous for while I’m here. Today is Iceland’s Independence Day. All over the country today we’ve seen people listening to live music in parks and decorating their cars with flags. (Post 4 of 4)Read more

  • Waterfalls in South Iceland

    We road tripped through South Iceland to see some of south Iceland most famous waterfalls. The first waterfall we could walk behind, the second was a secret waterfall in a cave, and the last was the tallest that we climbed a TON of stairs to get the top of. South Iceland was my favorite part when I was here last time. It never disappoints.Read more

  • Vik

    Our furthest destination of the day and turn around point is Vik. They are known for their black sand beaches and volcanic elements. We started at a nature preserve where I was FINALLY able to see a wild puffin. Then we went into town for black crust pizza. Vik is famous for their volcanic charcoal and love to incorporate it into their food. I was looking forward to visiting the Skool Beans coffee shop but it was unfortunately closed today.Read more

  • Unexpected Pit Stop

    After realizing I hadn’t had coffee all day we made a pit stop at a bakery in the middle of nowhere. This wasn’t just any bakery though, it was directly under an active volcano that last erupted in 2011.Read more

  • Perlan Museam

    We spent our last hours in Iceland at the Perlan Museum. This museum showcases all the incredible offerings of Iceland. We watched a northern lights planetarium show, watched volcanic eruptions, and even went into an ice cave. The cafe up top has a 360 view of Reykjavik.Read more

  • Capsule Hotel Amsterdam

    We got into Amsterdam and at our stay at past 3 AM after delayed baggage and wrong Uber stops. We are super excited about this stay because for the next two nights we are staying in a capsule hotel.

  • The Hague

    This morning we drove from Amsterdam to stay with my relatives in Delft. It was about a 45 min drive. We had lunch at the cutest outdoor restaurant that had tons of goats and chickens wandering around. After we took the tram to The Hague. This is where the Royal family of the Netherlands meets and the hub of the EU and the Interpol.Read more

  • Brugge

    After a 2.5 hour drive we made it to Brugge for the evening. We snacked on waffles, chocolate, and Belgian beer. We also took a boat tour through the city. This town feels

  • Idar-Oberstein

    We are spending the next two nights with Jutta in Ruschberg. We went to visit Idar-Oberstein which is famous for its church in the mountain. We hiked all the way up for a view of the Oberstein castle. We are very much ready for some down time at Jutta’s house reading, eating cake, and drinking coffee.Read more

  • Bad Wimpfen

    We spent the afternoon and evening in the beautiful city of Bad Wimpfen. Every street is so picturesque and filled with history. We got to eat a lovely authentic German dinner with family and talk for hours. It was the perfect evening.Read more

  • Night in Flein

    Last night we got to stay in the hotel that is owned by one of my family members. We also got to eat her mom’s restaurant next door in the morning. It was a true Gästehaus experience.

  • Giengen

    We arrived in Giengen this morning which is the town my grandmother is from. I just love it here. We checked out the Steiff museum which is the company that created the first stuff toy and teddy bear. Then we wandered the city for a bit before the rain came. We even got to see the stork perched up on its nest. We spent our rainy afternoon having Kaffee und Kuchen and playing Yahtzee.Read more

  • Farewell Germany

    Our last day in Germany was my favorite day. We had so much family time today. We had coffee in the garden with Bettina, Manfred, Marion, and Laura. We then went to dinner with Bibi and Wolfgang in their beautiful garden. We came home to a huge hail storm. Tomorrow we are off to Switzerland.Read more

    Quick pit stop in Lichtenstein on our way to Switzerland. The only way to get a stamp in your passport is to stop in the visitors center. This capital is full of modern architecture, funky art, and a castle up on the hill.Read more

    Our home for the next three nights! We made it to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland. This my next to last stop. After driving most of the day from Germany we spent the evening strolling through the mountainside and eating yummy fondue for dinner.Read more

  • Mürren

    We had a very cloudy and rainy day today but Switzerland is absolutely beautiful even in the rain. We spent the day up in Mürren. We had to take a cable car and a little cog train to get up there. On the way up we the train had a power outage so we ended up hiking an hour up and had amazing views. My favorite part was that you could hear the cow bells from the trail. I’m Mürren, we got caught in a bit of a storm and the power went out when we were in a cafe. The views were absolutely stunning.Read more
