• Day 33 O'Pedrouzo to Santiago

    Oct 10–11, 2024 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

In my own mind I had a peaceful solo 20km walk into Santiago today. The trail was woodlands, eucalypt forests, and a melody of chainsaws clearing the fallen trees from the hurricane.
The long walk into the Catedral was a stream of backpacks.
Stopped for churros and. Chocolate on the way in.
The sound of bagpipes told me I was close, and then I was there, 500 miles from the starting point in front of the magnificent catedral.
My pilgrim friends Rocky, Cathy, Bruno, Declan, Diana and Allanna also arrived into Santiago today.
Anna from the breast cancer group who I had dinner with last night too.
It was quite emotional and undoubtedly one of the most memorable highlights of my Camino !
We all sat in the square for a couple of hours soaking up the atmosphere.
Checked into my hotel, San Miguel and had a long bath.
Out to dinner with the arrival group to an Italian restaurant to celebrate.
It was nice to have my pilgrim family to enjoy the last dinner.
