• Dinner troubles

    April 12 in Vietnam ⋅ 🌙 30 °C

After a lovely afternoon relaxing on my balcony, I decided to get dinner at the place I got my morning coffee from. It's nearby, and the reviews are great. I ordered the Vietnamese crepes with just prawns, no pork, and I explained to my server I can't have meat as it makes me poorly and then asked about the shrimp rolls, and she said ok. Because I've been sick before with shrimp rolls having pork inside, most recently in Malaysia, I carefully opened a roll before eating. It definitely looked like pork. The server looked embarrassed and tried to tell me it was mushrooms, but I know meat when I see it, and mushrooms aren't something that's common in Vietnamese dishes. It's so frustrating when servers don't take food allergies seriously. In any event, I didn't eat it. I can't afford to be sick so early in my travels.Read more
