A little help from my friends

I have a funny little story. Yesterday afternoon at Borda I walked past the shower door and I heard a little voice say, "help help! "

I said "What do you need?"

One of the little pilgrims from South Korea opened the door, just a crack so I could just see her face and she said she needed help, but I didn't understand what she was asking. I asked her if I could come in. She said, " I'm naked!"

I laughed and said"I won't look!"

Well, I got in there and here was a teeny tiny little little woman literally covered with soap bubbles from her hair down to her toes. She didn't understand how the shower worked and so she had put her shower token in and soaped up and run out of water. And when the water shuts off, it shuts off. So she was covered in soap with no way to rinse off. We both started laughing.

I went and found Laurent and told him what happened and he gave me a token that I took back to her so she could rinse off.

Now every time we see each other, we start laughing!

Today I'm walking back down to SJPP from Borda. I'm seeing a lot of people that are starting way too late to make a comfortable trip across that mountain. It's hotter than Hades. Some look like they're already having a heat stroke, and I advised them to take the road instead of the Rocky Trail. That Rocky Trail is crazy hard. The thing is they look at the map and they think that the road looks longer, but if you stretch out all the switchbacks, it's actually about the same length.

Anyway, I am taking the bus about 1:45 PM over to Roncesvalles. I need to get into my room and get some laundry done for tomorrow.

I'll meet up with everyone there. I am curious to see how they did

I have to say it was difficult watching everybody takeoff this morning and knowing that I wasn't going to finish the route over the mountain. The walk down to Orson from border was stunning. I love when we are walking above the clouds. But I know that it was the wise decision even though it was difficult and I've walked it so many times. So I am getting a good 9 km walk in today and it's probably a good thing to have a rest day like today and tomorrow I can start walking from Roncesvalles.
