    Thankfully, during the Second World War, American troops building roads uncovered ancient ruins and halted all works. During the excavation conducted by an archeological expert, artifacts were uncovered and are on display today in the Paestum Museum.
    Many of the other larger artifacts on display were removed from the Temples to protect them from looters and souvenir hunters!
