After the amazing Tongario Alpine area the next stop is Wellington. Here we droped the car after 3200km on the North Island only. Let's see how much we add on the South Island. But first- Wellington the capitol city and famous for its windy weather (confirmed). Also the movie studios as well as heaps of Lord of the Rings movie sets are located here.

Nach dem atemberaubenden Tongario ging es für uns weiter Richtung Wellington. Nach 3200km mit dem Auto setzen wir von hier mit der Fähre auf die Südinsel über. Mal sehen ob wir dort mehr oder weniger fahren werden? Bis dahin gibt es noch Hauptstadt Flair und nochmals richtig viele Herr der Ringe (LotR) Filmstätten.Read more

What a day - we crossed the Tongario today and we did the 20km in just 7.5hrs through rocks, snow but with beautiful weather.

Wahnsinns Tag für uns, wir sind über den Tongario gewandert. Das waren 20km in 7.5 Stunden mit steilen Stufen, Felsen und Schnee bei wunderbaren Wetter.Read more

In this footprint, the last two to three days are put together. We headed to Whakarau, where friends of mine are living and which I haven't met for last 18 years. It was an amazing reunion and the way to, around and away from their place was beautiful.

In diesem Footprint fasse ich die letzten zwei- drei Tage zusammen. Von Tauranga ging es nach Whakarau. Es ist ein Ort im Nirgendwo in welchem Freunde von mir leben. Welcome to "hells kitchen"

From Tauranga we did a day tour to Rotorua - hells kitchen. Rotorua is famous for all the thermal and geological sites as well as Maori culture. What is sure- it is another special place and inside Te Puia we also two Kiwi birds which are there for a breading project.

Mit dem Auto sind wir heute in das einstündig entfernte Rotorua gefahren - ein wenig wie der Vorort zur Hölle mit all seinen Schwefelquellen und Dämpfen. Im Te Puia kommt man dann auf sehr schöne Art mit der Maori-Kultur in Kontakt und mit Glück sieht man in der Kiwi Station den einen oder anderen Kiwi - und wir hatten Glück.Read more

We climbed our fourth vulcano - Mount Maunganui. A place were Andrea and I meet 22 years ago on our first eorld tour. So many lovely and unique memories are linked to all those places. Later Andrea spotted a beautiful waterfall in the area of Tauranga.

Vulkan Nr. 4 war heute fällig - Mount Maunganui in Tauranga. Der Strand und die Stadt war für Andrea und mich der Startpunkt unserer gemeinsamen Reise vor 22 Jahren. We left Coromandel and were heading to Tauranga. But on the way we stopped at the Hobbit movie set. We went on one of the guided tour and it was worth it.

We left our beautiful and cosy hostel in the Northland and headed to Coromandel- 500km or 7 hours drive. Again, we arrived late and we decided for the next day to do nothing💤😎!!!

Can't go any further north by car than today. Stopping by the 90 mile beach as well as the secret beach of our hosts, followed by a bit of Sahara feeling and we finialized this day with the Cape Reinga. What an amazing day!

Nördlicher geht es mit dem Auto wirklich nicht und auf dem Weg zum Cape Reinga haben wir eine sehr kurzen Stop am 90 Mile Beach gemacht und danach am Secret Spot unseres Gastgebers bevor wir Sahara Feeling an den großen Dünen hatten. Trip to the west coast of the Northland to see the "Big One" - New Zealand biggest tree. One the way back we got our first Fish & Chips. Actually we ordered two kinds and red snapper was the best again. On the way back to the farm, some usual suspects were visited - waterfalls.

Heute ging es an die Westküste des Northlands, um den größten Baum Neuseelands zu sehen. Der Kauri ist der fünft größte Baum der Welt, sie hoffen aber in den unzugänglichen Ecken einen noch größeren Baum zu finden.
Rückzugs gab es die ersten F&C - zwei Sorten und Red Snapper bliebt aber am Besten. Zu Ende lungerten noch Wasserfälle am Weg, von denen wir einen mitgenommen haben.Read more

Today we took again a ferry to head to Rangitoto Island for a mini hike of 10km. Back in the city we visited the "All black Experience" - nice experience and I scored two free Kicks 🏉🏉!

Heute ging es mit der nächsten wieder Fähre etwas weiter raus und wir besuchten Rangitoto Island für ein paar Stunden. Alles in allem sind wir 10km über die Insel spaziert. It is time to say Goodbye to Bali. It was a great stop and the last days were just passing by. On our five hour drive we stopped at an amazing Buddhist temple. Actually it is the main Buddhist temple on Bali and on my list number 2 or 3. Next stop New Zealand 🇳🇿!

Easy day in Lovina

Easy going day today. Long sleep - breakfast with crêpes, some tour organization and finally we took a taxi to the Aling Aling waterfalls. Enjoying nature and taking a swim later incl. base jumping (5m) only. The 12m and 15m I keep for the next visit or not 🥶.

Ein total entspannter Tag, lange schlafen, leckeres Frühstück mit drei Zimt-Crêpes und ein wenig Orga für die nächsten Tage. Dann nochmals kurz los um die Aling Aling Wasserfälle zu besuchen und einzutauchen. We leave Ubud and we are heading north. The brother of one of our guides is driving us. We listen to Ed Shearan and visit a gourgous water temple, the Hardana Gate and stop by by some monkeys. Finally we reach our next destination and accomodation in Lovina.

Abreise aus Ubud und es geht Richtung Norden mit Lovina als Ziel. Uns fährt der Bruder eines Guides mit guter Musik zu einem sehr beeindruckenden Wassertempel, dem Tor von Handara und Affen auf dem Weg. Ankunft in Lovina und vielleicht folgen noch ein zwei Bilder später 😉!Read more

What a day - start at 2am in the morning- yes in the morning. Heading to Mount Batur for a sunrise hike. But the weather was not on our side- around 6:30 am after two hours of hiking in the dark, fog surounded us.😟! So went down with no real sunrise experience- like all the other 1000 people (downside of mass tourism).😟

Sehr früher Start mit wenig Schlaf. Um 2 Uhr frühs ging es Richtung Mount Batur um von der Spitze (~1700 m über NN) den Sonnenaufgang 🌄 über Bali zu erleben.
Wanderung im Dunkeln und oben mit weiteren 1000 Menschen 😟 im Nebel zu sitzen. Das war wohl nichts. So ging es dann wieder Runter und mit dem Shuttle zurück und den Schlaf nachholen.

Another day with a local guide but this time we stayed around Ubud and the sun is out again. First stop, rice taracce followed by a swim below a waterfall. From there we went to a coffee farm and I tried my first Luwak Coffee (most expensive coffee in the world) and finally we visited another water temple.
Weiter geht es von Ubud zu lokalen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Angefangen von tollen Reisterassen, über ein Bad unter einem Wasserfall und den teuersten Kaffee der Welt bis zu einem Wassertempel in welchem man sich "reinigen" lassen kann.Read more

Today we booked a guide to take us to three different temple- even if one is officially a garden. The experience was amazing and we got in close contact with the Bali Hindu spiritual life.
Mit einem Guide ging es heute in drei verschiedene Tempel wobei einer davon ein alter Königsgarten ist. Mit dem Besuch vom Mutter-Tempel Pura Besakih hatten wir am Ende eine tolle Gelegenheit mit der balinesischen hindustischen Kultur in Kontakt zu kommen.Read more

Visit of a local temple in Ubud - learning on the way and back how to slow down - like the traffic. Which is crazy from time to time! But the place was nice. Looking forward to our big tour tomorrow.

Ein Besuch in einem lokalen Tempel in Ubud. Man lernt auf dem Weg die balinesische Art der Entschleunigung, da im Verkehr nur Schritttempo geht und man Zeit hat. Kleiner schöner Tempel, war die Taxifahrt wert 👍Read more

First day with rain and monkey forest

We used two hours without rain and visited the local monkey forest. They like smartphones and people with more hair
Hamburger Shitwetter würde man sagen. Sind in einem kurzem Regenfenster in den Affenwald. Die Affen stehen wohl auf Smartphones und hätten gerne mehr Haare, um daran zu ziehen. Zweimal Pech gehabt kleiner Freund.Read more
