flight from Vienna to Riga at 9:05. I almost missed the flight due to the delay of the train and crowded people in the airport. Boarding it 10 mins before the departure thankfully.

first day in Oslo. When I arrived, the sky was getting dark and it was just 2pm lol. Super foggy weather and snow piled up near the road everywhere. Amazingly the weather is not cold as I thought it was bequem !Read more

constructed in the 13th century, founded by Haakon V. It's a medieval castle and has two museums in the place but I haven't actually seen the "museum". It was mainly for protection in the past and then turned into a royal place around the 16th century. When u go along the path on top, u can see the view of port.Read more

There were so many seals flying around, and I witnessed a seal grabbing the tissue out from a woman. It was a bit scary. I like the buildings standing near the port as well as the light decoration! Vibe near port is chilling and u can see the local take a walk here.Read more

historical museum in Oslo

The last Saturday in 2024 is free entrance and I'm luck to come across the opportunity to visit the museum. The first floor was about heritage of Norwegian and Christianity development in Norway. The second floor displays ethnic antique from other countries and also the story of Netsilik Ingmiut. (Actually I think this part is not related to Norwegian history that much) but one part in this floor was about Nazi invading into Norway in 1940. Therefore, the main goal then was retreating all gold from Oslo(amount to 240 million kr at that time) and here displays more than 60+ different currencies in the course of Norwegian governance. The third floor was introduced about Viking history and the story of Saint Olaf and St. Mary.Read more

The Christmas market is unexpected still going on. The skating park, Ferris wheel, food stands, and some other facilities are made up of the Christmas market. Everything is beautiful there but the price is too expensive so my wallet didn't want me to lol.Read more

Stories about explorers like Amundsen, Nansen, Robert Scott... and so on. Their expedition stories to Greenland, Antarctica. Due to their strong ambition in voyage, Norway became only one country in the world possess territories both in Arctic and Antarctica and Norwegian is the first ethnic landing in Antarctica. What information did the expedition gain during the voyage is the foundation of modern science and it solved lots of questions people had at that time.

In the Museum has a giant Viking ship model, which people can go inside and check how the life of sailors and explorers is like on the ship. I think it was quite delicate and way more huge than I thought. It was quite impressive !Read more

This museum is more focused on ship development and voyage in modern times like around World War I and II. Norwegians' lives are strongly connected to navigation on the sea. They developed merchant ship and cruise to strengthen the economy. Besides, some stories told about the competition between Norwegian and British people.

Nowadays, pollution in the sea is a big topic for Norwegians and they want to achieve zero emissions in 2050 and they are trying to make electric ships common in the future to avoid more oil pollution in the ocean.Read more

about a bold man- Thor Heyerdahl's story and how he tried to prove his some voyage theories in archeology, even though he didn't have any experience in sailing or expedition at that time before he started his experiment (Kon-Tiki & Ra expedition ). What he did has lots of controversy but his theories are still valuable to modern science in anthropology, archeology and ancient navigation.Read more
