On the way to Hikkaduwa this morning we stopped to tasted some buffalo curd with honey, served in a small clay pot with a pandanus leaf spoon. I'd already tried it at restaurants and found it similar to yogurt but this one was much nicer. Next stop was at Galle to look at the old Dutch fort. It was initially established by the Portuguese in 1588 but later fortified into the current solid structure by the Dutch in the 17th century. The Galle Fort was recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 1988. Also located within the fort walls is the Galle lighthouse, the oldest in the country. Now we're at our hotel, right on the ocean and have free time till midday on Friday when we get in a few more activities before heading to the airport to fly back home.Read more
