The Billabong is nearly full. First time I have seen that!!
Had a lovely morning birding with Wendy. We saw 5 Buttonquails but alas no photos!! Had some Blue-bonnets play hide and seek. A Spotted Harrier was searching for a feed, a couple of Pipitts, Fairywrens, lots of Zebra Finches, Budgies, Galahs, Ducks & others.Read more

Left Wendy & Jeff's about 11.30 and went into St George. Had lunch down by the river. Lots of water beside the roads. Nice and green. First time in ten years we have seen Chelmer green!!

Have four Galahs welcome us.
Bollon had the cheapest fuel - 10.4 cents a litre. Can't understand why it closed down.

Saw lots of birds at the creek this morning. Left at 10 for Cunamulla.
A daddy Emu had 20 chicks with him!!
After passing the Charlotte Plains turn off we decided to go back camp there.
The smoko stop beside the road was to discuss this with Bruce, as he is traveling with us.Read more

Well here we are. Looking forward to a soak in the tub!!
Looks like a nice spot. A couple of other campers here.
A very impressive bird list.
Got better photos of the Bourke's Parrot at Jack's hut. Photographed a Rainbow Bee-eater going in and out of its' nest in the ground.
As we left about 4 caravans turned up.Read more

Had a lovely night here. Lots of birds - Hall's Bablers, Bourke's Parrots, 1000's of Zebra Finches, 100's Cockatiels & Diamond Doves etc. Not a lot of water in the dams but there is a round concrete trough with a float in it. The Galahs seem to have claimed that one!Read more

Couldn't book at the Rangers office as it is closed due to covid.
Not sure how long to stay here. Will drive out to the lakes and the granite tomorrow.

Wow what a big day. Everyone is exhausted! Got up and went off birding before breaky, I saw a Crested Bellbird & a very small quail near the shearing shed. Then after breakfast we headed off to the Granites. Not a lot there so then off to both lakes. Not a lit at them either though a lot more water than last time.
Then about 5.30 we came back to this beautiful spot that isn't a campsite and decided to camp here!Read more

Had a great trip up through all the natural old springs. Must have been 100s of them. Not too many still flowing now. Jubilee springs is still bubbling enough to keep the pond full & the birds happy.
The road went up through some really Interesting country.Read more

Decided to give the Grey Grasswren a miss. Too hot and a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack.
This spot is one the locals use on weekends.

Well how exciting is this.... the water level is rising so no camping on the lake!! It is coming up reasonably fast. We will camp up at the shearing shed tonight.

Having a night out in town. Kieran is staying here for work for 8 weeks. Goes home most weekends. State of Origin tonight so the pub may be busy!
Got some photos of a White-plumed Honeyeater feeding a Cuckoo of some sort. About 3 times the size of him!!
We then went to Baldy Top looking for some birds. Didn't find what I wanted so may go back in the morning while it is cooler.

Had good weather today. Called into Charleville but didn't get to catch up with Gidge.
Had a few millimeters of rain over night.
A large branch fell off the big dead tree but luckily no-one was camped under it.Read more
