    Kwiambal National Park

    Jun 2–4 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Had a lovely drive here. Staying at Lemon Tree again (3rd time).
We drove in to Krombitti as it was open this time. I think Lemon Tree is better. When we arrived, someone was camped in the site we had booked. So for the moment we are in another site.
Rained all night on night one.
We moved into the site we had booked after it was vacated.
Went up on a walk to the Dungeon.
Saw my first Water-rat! Got one very blurry photo of it!
Got a Spotted Quoll on the camera over night. That was unexpected.

  • Mt Kaputar NP

    Jun 4–5 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

We had a good trip here, went through Bingara via the dirt/mud road. Stopped at the IGA for a top up of some of the things I left at home one thing being the apples that are still in the fruit bowl.
The Bark Hut campsite is at 1200m above sea level.
Have put the insulation panels in for the first time in ages. We are in site 11 on the bitumen, so no worries about mud if it rains, which it probably will.
    Mega fungi at the campground.

  • Dawsons Spring

    Jun 5–7 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

We found the campground I thought I had booked. So rang National Parks and the swapped the campground for us. This is the one we stayed at with Ernie & Gertie before we had Vicky.

  • Salt Caves Pilliga Scrub

    Jun 7–9 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Had a lazy morning (again)!! Packed up and got into Narrabri for an early lunch, pies of course.
We went the back way into the Pilliga. We were met by a flock of Brown Honeyeaters at our campsite! They would come to about a metre from you. Two came up to our top step and one put its head inside. Didn't see any birds down at the dam but we did get a healthy fox on the night cam.
Had a great camp fire both nights.

  • Murrundi, NSW

    Jun 11–12 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

Well we had an unusual day looking for a laundromat (most seem to be closed) or a caravan park that looked a bit OK!
Ended up here, lovely little spot with a great letter box.
Still cold down this way. Window insulation are in again.
I think the heater stayed on most of the night!! Big frost this morning.
Had breaky at the Pie Face across the road.
We certainly had some road and train noise during the night but it didn't keep us awake as we snuggled in together ❤️

  • On The Putty

    June 12 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

Stop lights on the Putty! Three of, the first two were road works the last one was because half the road had slipped down the hill!!
We have seen two Wombats so far, unfortunately both were dead.....

  • NSW Ski Park

    Jun 12–13 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

    Our third time camping here.
Went to have a cuppa where we had lunch with TnT but it had just closed for the afternoon, unfortunately.

  • Tahnee & Marco's Place

    June 13 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Had an extremely interesting drive here!
My chauffeur did a fantastic job.
The road from Hornsby across is extremely windy. Some corners are 5km, and others 10kms.
We had trouble getting around one in the 79. Had to reverse back a bit while six cars, three in either direction waited patiently for us. I guess they saw the Qld number plates!!!
We took TnT out to Tea in Sydney for their birthdays. Tiger's coconut was lit up!!

Did a great 5k walk with Tahnee. We had never even seen this place before. Mal & I found it on our way to Tahnee & Marco's place. We thought it looked like it was worth a return visit!! And it certainly was.Read more

  • Bronny & Daves

    June 16 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Had a lovely catch up & camped in the driveway!
Cameron has just bought a new 79 so plenty for Mal & him to talk about.
Both William & Cameron are studying in the aviation industry. Cameron in helicopters & William in planes. Obviously it runs in the family!!
Dave had come off his bike a month ago and hurt his wrist quite badly.

  • EPIC Canberra

    Jun 18–20 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 9 °C

It has turned in to a beautiful day!!
We stopped of at Sutton to catch up with Ulis & Anne. Mal collected a crank shaft that needs some work.
All the caravans hooked up to mains water didn't have any in the morning. All the pipes were frozen!
Our metal strips in the camper had ice on them most of the night. Still 1° at 9.30 in the morning.
Mal has caught the tram into the city to check out the galleries. I am doing the washing and having an easy day!
    Had about 8 Red-rumps & 5 Yellow-rumped Thornbills outside the camper.
Second night at -3°!!! And still -3° at 7.30 in the morning!

    June 20 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 3 °C

Stopped at the Some Cafe for breakfast! It was fantastic, they had the fire going and was quite cosey.
On the way out we came across an unusual structure very suited to the Enchanted Turret!! "Dreamers Gate" it was built by a man as a tribute to his father & son. The council wanted it pulled down in about 2000. This never happened, thank goodness. We were lucky to see it with the low cloud and the sun trying to poke through.
    Still -3° at 9.30..

  • Dunns Swamp

    Jun 21–25 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 1 °C

14 dead wombats & 9 dead foxes so far this trip.
Very happy to be back at Dunns Swamp after 10 years. They have certainly changed the campground since we were last here. Nearly 100 campsites now, whereas there were about 10 last time. Our campsite is great and close to some of the walks behind the main campground. Maybe site 66 next time, but both are good.
Camera files went crazy and I lost most of the photos from here.
However when we got home, I downloaded the san disc recovery software and was able to get them back!!! Helps to buy the right brand of SD card.....

  • Rylstone

    June 22 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Sadly, another dead wombat on the way out.
We loved Dunns Swamp and hope to return. Rain early on the last morning there, and predicted to continue all day.

  • Ferntree Gully

    June 24 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 13 °C

A quick stop looking for the Lyre bird. Heard them but they were a bit too far away! Nice spot but no camping.
Eight more dead wombies 😌 this morning and one dead skippy.

  • Gresford

    Jun 24–25 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Asked the publican at The Beaty Hotel if we could camp in carpark and we got the OK. Having tea there tonight!

  • Gloucester Tops River CG

    Jun 25–28 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Very friendly Fairy-wrens & Scrub-wrens. One Scrub-wren even went into the car to help Mal clean it out! That is a first for us. Then we had two in the camper!! One sat on my knee, but the phone and camera were both outside!
Lot's of Lyre birds here but no good photos. The Kookaburras hover around if you have food, impossible to eat anything outside. Mal has a "Kookaburra" stick for chasing them away. Campground is very quiet except for the birds!
Six water crossings on the way in

  • Gloucester Tops

Looking for a Scrub-bird. As it turned out it was lucky I didn't see it, as I lost all my camera files from Dunns Swamp till after Gloucester!!
