Boucle de Mae Hong Son – Jour 3

Troisième journée sur la boucle. Encore des virages, encore des montagnes… mais aujourd’hui, l’ambiance change complètement.

Premier arrêt aux Pha Suea Waterfall. Cascade large et puissante, entourée de forêt.
Moins sauvage que certaines autres, mais impressionnante par son débit.

Changement total d’atmosphère en arrivant à Ban Rak Thai. Village fondé par des anciens soldats chinois du Kuomintang. Maisons en terre, enseignes en chinois, plantations de thé… On se croirait presque en Chine.
Je m’installe face au lac.

À quelques kilomètres, direction Pang Ung.
Un grand lac entouré de pins, avec des radeaux en bambou qui glissent sur l’eau.
L’atmosphère est douce, presque romantique.
On oublie complètement qu’on est en Thaïlande tropicale.

Je termine au Pang Tong Palace. Résidence royale entourée de jardins et de montagnes.
Le cadre est élégant et parfaitement entretenu.

Day three on the loop. More curves, more mountains… but today the atmosphere completely changes.

First stop at Pha Suea Waterfall. A wide and powerful waterfall surrounded by forest.
Not the wildest, but impressive in strength.

Total change of scenery upon arriving at Ban Rak Thai. A village founded by former Chinese Kuomintang soldiers. Clay houses, Chinese signs, tea plantations… It almost feels like being in China. I sit by the lake

A few kilometers away, I head to Pang Ung.
A large lake surrounded by pine trees, bamboo rafts gliding across the water.
Soft, romantic atmosphere. You completely forget you’re in tropical Thailand.

I end the day at Pang Tong Palace. A royal residence surrounded by gardens and mountains. Elegant, peaceful, beautifully maintained. Mountains turning golden at sunset, the perfect calm ending to the day.Læs mere
