  • Day 2. Arrival in Delhi xxx

    November 8, 2025 in India ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Well here I am, technically Day 2 (but Day 1 of tour) as I set off on Friday, delayed on the plane for an hr before we could set off and arrived in Delhi today (Saturday). Not many pics..got here, slept for an HR, then built up the courage to go for a walk, only got asked a couple times if I wanted my shoes cleaned and kinda helped a blind guy across the street.. as they say, 'the blind leading the blind' 🤣.
Had the welcome meeting, a nice group of 14 of us, then we all went and had dinner together. I had a chicken sagwala which I've never had before, it was creamy and spinachy with chicken, I also had a garlic naan and it was scrumptious.
Now to bed as it's 10 pm here and we are leaving at 6 a.m 🫤 xxx

  • Day 2, Delhi to Jaipur Rajasthan xxx

    November 9, 2025 in India ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

What a great but also long day, we have left Delhi and moved on to Jaipur Rajasthan, where we will spend 2 nights.
We've on the bus a long time time today but have had beautiful scenery, we had a lovely breakfast, my first time trying aloo paratha and masala chai, delicious.
Then we went to a G Adventures initiative that helps women from local villages learn how to block print and sew beautiful items. This is so they can have an income and even be able to send their children to school with the money they make and overall to lead better lives.
The ladies are very brave to want to do this as it is still seen as women should be at home and not working.
We all had a go at doing our own prints, I kept it simple and others went more wild lol.
Next we moved up to the Amber Fort in jeeps which was quite fun, and we had a guide explaining the history, wow what a beautiful place, I especially liked the carvings, mirrors and painting that was all done by hand.
Next we stopped very briefly so we could take pictures of The Water Palace, the reflection in the water made it more stunning.
Now on to a homestay, the owners have converted their house into rooms for people to stay, it's simply stunning, my room is huge. We were greeted up the stairs with beautifully scented rose petals, a bindi and a flower garland, U know me...I had tears in my eyes, very special.
Now they have just come round to ask what we want for dinner where we will meet on the rooftop and eat together shortly, I've ordered a lentil Dahl with roti, a banana lassi and gulab jamon.
Will be up early again tomorrow for a tuk tuk guide around Jaipur which I am looking forward to.
All in all a great day, enjoy the pics xxx

The guy next to me was making me cry with laughter, we went through veg and fruit stalls and flowers galore. We also joined hundreds in temple prayers and had the most delicious masala chai and huge samosa xxxRead more

  • Evening 2nd day in Jaipur xxx

    November 10, 2025 in India ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Not too much happened in the afternoon after our exciting tour this morning. But wow after a walk around the old part of Jaipur we were very privileged to go to our guides parents house he shares with them and his wife, we even looked at his wedding pictures, I mean for 14 westerners to show up, the hospitality shown was heartwarming and the house magnificent.
Then we had a hair-raising tuk tuk drive to our restaurant rooftop dinner but as I have a cold I couldn't taste a thing.
Tmw we are off to the Taj Mahal in the afternoon which I am very much looking forward to. Now to bed and for goodness sakes please let me sleep xxx

  • Day 4. Jaipur to Agra xxx

    November 11, 2025 in India ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Today Tuesday 11th December Day 4. We had a 4 and half hour drive from Jaipur to Agra, we stopped for lunch and I tried the Raj kachori, it's a cold main of hollowed out pastry with chickpeas and potato and spices with a yoghurt served with sweet and savoury chutneys, I mean I did kinda grow to like it near the end, after all, this adventure is all about trying new things!

Once we were settled into the hotel we set off for The Taj Mahal, one of the official 7 'Wonders of the World, we had a great guide and luckily this is a gd time to come here as not as crazy as it can be in some months.
Well...there are no words, it certainly stands the test of time, simply majestic, how lucky am I to come see it's beauty and the romantic reason of why it was built ✨ 🥰 awww.

Also meant to mention the numerous photo stops of everyone asking if they can have a photo with us whities lol. I love it when I'm asked and everyone has been so polite. Also some school children stopped to talk to me and they were so happy afterwards 😊.
And also what a small world as spoke to a guy from Windsor and Slough lol.

Tmw we are up early for our first Indian train ride, off to bed now, great day!!! xxx

  • India Day 5..train to Orchha xxx

    November 12, 2025 in India ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

Day 5..I think 🤔 we took our first train through the countryside to Orchha, a little different to Agra Jaipur and Delhi, only 10,000 people live here instead of however many million!!

Had a pleasant meal on the train of a vegetable patty, kinda looked like fish fingers, some bread and a mango juice. Then we took another crazy tuk tuk to our hotel and they had cooked us a lovely lunch of okra, spiced cauli and potato, poppadoms, roti, lentil Dahl, it was delicious.

Next we had 2 lovely girls who's brother owns the hotel to henna up us women, they earn themselves some pocket money whilst they are studying, they did a beautiful job, I said I wanted as much as possible but as we were going on a tour they are gonna possibly do more on me tmw lol, they are so clever and quick at applying it.

We've been out for a few hours on a lovely tour of a palace in Orchha, the guide was very passionate as they always are. We've just popped back to hotel to get ready for a night time temple visit where I think we will see some sort of ceremony and then off to dinner.

Tmw a lie in!!!!! We don't have to be up early wahoo...but tmw we take a night train...eekkkk...not sure I'll be going to the toilet tmw for a few hrs 🤔🤣 xxx

Day 6, we had a lovely lie in!!!!!! Breakfast at 9 yay! And I tell U what, it was nice to have muesli and cold milk, it's the simple things.

Then at 12 most of us went on a tuk tuk tour, our guide was really lovely and the one we had yesterday, he said I'm very nice and it was lovely talking to me. (I bet he says that to everyone 🤣).

We saw another lovely temple, made some pottery, went to see hundreds of cows, had a samosa in a lovely park, saw a 600 year old baobab tree which I touched and made a wish on 😊 and tried some sugarcane.

When back at the hotel I had yet some more henna tattoo done, I wished it stayed on me forever it's so beautiful, and the sisters who did it so talented!!!! We chatted for ages afterwards and they were telling me their favourite films and music.

Then ive just walked to a local cafe with a few others from the tour and had some chips, something simple as we are about to catch the overnight train to Varanasi and I think I'm on the top bunk lmao. This should be very interesting indeed xxx

Day 7 of India, Arrival in Varanasi, checking in and then going out on a walk of the old town of this crazy place. Warning, ⚠️ there are pictures of fires where they are cremating bodies.
As our guide says, this is the city of learning and burning!
It's the oldest city of 3000 years old and it's where people come to be cremated and put in the Ganges.
It's quite unbelievable really, and at one point I was quite emotional xxx

We were greeted in a tradional way and shortly we are heading for Chitwan national park...my god I hope I see a tiger but not getting hopes up.
Also hoping not to add to much to the mosquito count because I don't think I can take anymore bites!

    November 19, 2025 in Nepal ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Today Day 12. We have had a long travel day to Pokhara, on the way we stopped at a lovely bouncy bridge lol and had a walk across to the other side, what stunning views!

The whole journey on the bus was stunning, bright coloured houses lining the way, but when we started seeing the Annapurna mountain range with it's snowy peaks, we were all in awe of it's beauty and the cloud formations adding to the mystery of it all.

Fewe lake is stunning too as the sun was slowly going down, we only had a short glimpse of this before doing some souvenir shopping and meeting for dinner in a lovely restaurant.

Looking forward to the sunrise walk to viewpoint of the mountains tmw and then a tour of Pokhara, not long left now before coming home which as usual I don't want to do!!!! Xxx

  • Day 14. Kathmandu xxx

    November 22, 2025 in Nepal ⋅ ☀️ 15 °C

Day 14. Day 14, last full day for me today, I fly home tmw..well I mean the journey starts tmw evening 😭. I've had THE best time ever, met some amazing people and had THE most wonderful guide, the way everyone has said such beautiful words about him tonight and how he has bought us all to tears, actually me and another lady marsha to be precise lol 🤣 we know I'm a cryer!!

Anyway we landed in Kathmandu from Pokhara this morning, then had a tour around the city, did a bit of shopping and had a farewell dinner saying goodbye to our simply outstanding and wonderful guide Hersh, there's too many words yet again!!!

Tmw we do a flight over Everest, I've always wanted to see Everest so we are hoping for no clouds . Then a quick bit of shopping and back to the airport for me.

India alone has blown mind, I was very nervous about coming although I'm always nervous doing this by myself but my goodness, what a great group of people I really hope to stay in touch.

I've honestly had the best time because of these guys and gals and they've all been so kind and welcoming to crazy little me, (especially the day of mum's anniversary).
Oh and I must mention Jan who made up the most amazing poem of our holiday, I need a copy, (I'll post when I've stolen it alongside everyone else).
I would recommend visiting India, there had been such a massive decline in tourism since COVID and Hersh was so so thankful to us for choosing to come to India, and the amount of people it has helped just by one tour group visiting is immense to them. Each place was different, it's been crazy and noisy, colourful, the smells and tastes are amazing and interesting.
Nepal very different, quiet and peaceful yet both countries have lovely warm and welcoming people, I shall feel weird not saying namaste every morning and throughout the day 🤣.
I do know I'm lucky to come on these trips, but I do work very hard to be able to do them, I sometimes work 7 days a week and lots of days in a row so I can afford them so I bloody deserve it.
Anyways, a few photos from today as gotta meet tmw at 5 and I have to sleep 💤 and have been up since that time this morning.
I need another holiday 🤣 xxx
