I got to my gate as they were letting people through, I was so relieved. Got on flight to Madrid. Then touch and go again as just got on the plane in time for Casablanca Morocco.
Not many pics, a travel day, waiting for evening to meet the rest of the group I'll be travelling with xxx

  • Roman ruins, food and belly dancing xxx

    June 15, 2025 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

Today we started with the Roman Ruins of Volubilis, stunning views, pretty mosaics some group photos and a temp of 37 degrees, boy it was hot. The most amazing thing is that we have Peter with his daughter Margaret and he is 95!!! and bossing it!
Then we went to a sponsored program (by G Adventures the tour group I am with) that helps women provide for their families and which also helps special needs children. We had a gorgeous lunch followed by a tea making demonstration.
Then back to our lovely hotel for a rest before heading back out for some belly dancing, more food and a magician and some great musicians. I even belly danced..badly..what a great day, shame I can only add few photos here xxx

  • Fes Medina Labyrinth xxx

    June 16, 2025 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Day 3 of Morocco, 2nd day in Fes, literally have no money left 🤣🤣.
We started by visiting one of the kings palaces..already really hot by this time.
Then with the help of a guide which they call a son of the medina who has studied all the alleys and few up there so we don't get lost) we visited the Fes Medina, over 9000 alleyways of shops/stalls, handicrafts.
We visited the ceramic section where they make all the beautiful things from butter dishes to tea sets and tagine pots, all handcrafted and using green clay and free of nasties like lead and also the paint is natural too.
We also visited the tannery, my goodness this is a sight....and smell 🤢...to behold, they gave us all a large sprig of mint to waft under our noses, all the guys in the actual vats, what a job!
Then we had a lovely lunch, I tried the pastilla a very traditional small pie with chicken but on the top there is icing sugar and cinnamon, glad I tried it but I wouldn't necessarily try it again lol.
And lastly a visit to the materials section and scarf making shop, where I bought a gorgeous scarf.
I've told everyone not to let me buy anything else and I'm gonna have to do quite a few weekends to make up for the spending but hey ho u only live once.
Tmw we have an early start and head on a long drive to the desert 🥰
Oh and it's been 40 degrees today not 30! 🥵 xxx

  • Palm Trees & Atlas Mountains

    June 17, 2025 in Morocco ⋅ ⛅ 39 °C

A cool 39 here in the Sahara, we have just arrived for 1 night here after 9 hrs with a few small pitstops. The dunes are breathtaking and I can't wait for the camel ride.
I'm also full of cold and can't hear out of 1 of my ears which always happens when I go away!!
Anyways, apart from that..have had some fantastic views through the atlas mountains, an oasis of palm trees, the Berber lion statue, fossils and food (when I wasn't sleeping) and the room is gigantic!!! Time for sorting stuff out before we head out with the nomads at around 7ish xxx

  • Saharan adventures xxx

    June 18, 2025 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

Day 5 in Morocco, again quite a bit of travel and have arrived at our next hotel in Todra..this morning after a pastry filled breakfast I filled up a cute little bottle with Saharan sand before some of us went on the Merzouga land cruiser experience.
We started by visiting the camel station where local people leave their camels to be social 🤣 there were so many of them.
Next, onto a little oasis where saw chestnuts and peach trees, altho when our leader says peach, it sounds like he is saying bitch which makes us laugh. There were quite a few frogs just floating down the reservoir channel lol. We made a quick visit to a mostly abandoned coal mine, a few individuals still risk the danger.

Then the 4×4 started and suddenly we were being thrown all over the show, it was wild being driven fast over the dunes but very exciting. We were taken to local nomad homes and had some mint tea, the little boy there took a liking to me and my earrings 🥰, and we saw how they lived and gosh was it wild.

Then we went to lunch and after that saw some locals play instruments and sing a little.
We have finished the day seeing some gardens that belong to local tribes, I believe there are 32 local tribes and they each have their plot of land which is usually inherited down by generations.

It gives them ways of providing for themselves.
They can irrigate their piece of land at a certain time in the month, there are local laws which each tribe must abide by when it comes to their turn, oh and the water comes from a local spring.

It was a welcome cool area and even started to rain a little bit apparently this area can be known for thunderstorms and flash flooding.

So then we went to the Todra Gorge to end the day and wow what a magnificent place and where the springs start.

Now at the hotel where will freshen up and go for dinner with some tour mates, chicken kebab for me.
I'm knackered, group tours are wicked but can be fast paced and pack alot in..with long journeys on the bus. I wouldn't change it tho, I'm having a wonderful time 💖 xxx

  • Through rose valley to Ait Bin Haddou xx

    June 19, 2025 in Morocco ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

Day 6 in Morocco, today we started off with a viewpoint to take some pictures, have passed through rose valley which is home to the damask rose, went in a lovely shop and the smell was amazing.
We then went to a herbalist who demonstrated the different way things are blended and what helps with what ailment, it was really really interesting.
I asked what could help with coughs so I'm gonna try it out when I get home.
Then onto lunch in ouzazate where I had a Pina colada which was delicious and I thought was a mocktail but it wasn't lol.
We are staying in Ait Bin Haddou tonight before moving on to Marrakech tomorrow. I am doing a tagine cooking demonstration in a couple of hours and then we are doing a group walk to a kasbah this evening, followed by me eating my tagine for dinner xxx
