• Day 8 Santorini

    June 13 in Greece ⋅ 🌬 23 °C

A day of viewing breath taking scenery. We left Fira for Oia via taxi and the drive was about 12 kms over narrow high roads with views down to the Mediterranean. On arrival we saw the most beautiful views and apart from the huge number of people everywhere, we enjoyed meandering along taking photos and looking in interesting little shops. The views were incredible but we did have to queue up several times for the best spots. By 1 pm the number of people had reduced somewhat as the tour groups had left. We stopped for tapas and a drink in a gorgeous bar and were reluctant to move on. We headed back to Fira about 4pm in a taxi which took us on a very interesting route along the lower coast where we saw more rural villages, including vineyards and donkeys. Needless to say the road was gravel in places and pretty rough but the driver very confident. He then climbed back up to Fira where we relaxed at the pool before going for dinner at the same place we had lunch yesterday. Equally good and a very short walk back.Read more
