Kulinarische Exkursion

🇩🇪 Am Montag stand wieder ein kulinarisches Highlight auf dem Programm. Mein Hotel liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe der ICON Mall, einem Ort, den ich zu Beginn meiner Zeit in Bangkok schon besucht hatte. Diese Mall beherbergt auch einen riesigen Street Food-Bereich, den ich heute erneut erkunden wollte, um verschiedene Gerichte zu probieren.

Auf dem Weg zur Mall stießen wir auf einen Durian Shop. Durian wird auch als "Stinkfrucht" bezeichnet, da sie einen sehr intensiven Geruch hat, der nicht jedermanns Sache ist, aber geschmacklich überzeugen soll. Neugierig kauften wir zwei Stücke, erhielten dazu einen Plastikhandschuh und kosteten sie. Ich muss zugeben, dass ihr Geschmack ihrem Geruch in nichts nachsteht und es absolut nicht mein Fall war. Dieses Geschmackserlebnis werde ich nicht wiederholen.

Angekommen in der ICON Mall, stöberten wir zunächst ein wenig herum, bevor ich mich den verschiedenen Spießen widmete. Zuerst probierte ich einen Garnelenspieß für 100 Baht (etwa 2,50 Euro), der wirklich lecker war. Danach gab es einen Oktopusspieß für 60 Baht (etwa 1,50 Euro), der ebenfalls gut schmeckte, allerdings etwas zäh und schwierig zu essen war. Anschließend gönnte ich mir noch Hühnchen Gyoza und vegetarische Frühlingsrollen mit Glasnudeln. Die Gyoza waren köstlich, die Frühlingsrollen jedoch kalt und daher nicht so gut, wie sie hätten sein können.

Zum Abschluss spülte ich alles mit einem sehr leckeren Orangensaft herunter und genoss als Nachtisch etwas frische Mango. Der Besuch in der ICON Mall ist immer wieder ein Erlebnis und macht großen Spaß. Ich denke, ich werde noch einmal hierherkommen und etwas anderes ausprobieren.

🇺🇸 On Monday, another culinary highlight was on the agenda. My hotel is conveniently located near the ICON Mall, a place I had visited at the beginning of my time in Bangkok. This mall also houses a vast street food area, which I wanted to explore again today to try various dishes.

On our way to the mall, we stumbled upon a Durian shop. Durian is also known as the "stink fruit" due to its intense odor, which isn't to everyone's taste but is said to be quite delicious. Curious, we bought two pieces, received a plastic glove, and dove in. I must admit, its taste is as strong as its smell, and it was absolutely not to my liking. I won’t be repeating that taste experience.

Upon arriving at the ICON Mall, we browsed around a bit before I turned my attention to the various skewers. First, I tried a shrimp skewer for 100 Baht (about 2.50 euros), which was really tasty. Then, I had an octopus skewer for 60 Baht (about 1.50 euros), which was also good but a bit tough and tricky to eat. Afterwards, I indulged in some chicken gyoza and vegetarian spring rolls with glass noodles. The gyoza were delicious, but the spring rolls were cold and therefore not as good as they could have been.

To finish, I washed everything down with a very tasty orange juice and enjoyed some fresh mango for dessert. Visiting the ICON Mall is always an experience and a lot of fun. I think I will come back here again and try something different.Read more
