Brixham to Salcombe (not Plymouth, then)

Monday 11 May, surprisingly enough, we were awake at 0600, slipped at 0704 and were on the RNSA mooring buoy in Salcombe by 1150. We had intended to press on to Plymouth, but the favourable tidal stream that got us around Start Point was about to run against, and guess what? Wind came around on the nose and was building. So other than tacking out to Eddystone and then all the way back, the entrance to Salcombe was yawning at us on a nice easy beam reach for about 2 miles or so. Easy option taken.

If you want to know where the RNSA mooring buoy is: as you come in round the corner into the main harbour you will see the fuel barge (flags up). Run up leaving the fuel barge to starboard and aim for a large yellow buoy marked with a ‘3’ and the speed limit. The RNSA mooring buoy is just in front of it and it is clearly marked (once you are close) and is a darker red than the other buoys. (useful if in daylight.)
DO NOT GO MUCH FURTHER OR YOU WILL GO AGROUND! (we did, a couple of years ago and the harbour launch chap remembered us (doohhhh!)
