• Tue 4 Aug, Holed up in Wick

    August 4 in Scotland ⋅ 🌧 13 °C

So very glad we crossed the Pentland Firth yesterday. The wind got up over night and is blowing a steady F6-7 here in Wick Harbour ( gusting 31 knots plus at times.) Also the wind is quite chilly. Just added extra mooring line aft and observed other boat owners doing the same thing. Hunkered down til it blows through, possibly not out of here til Thursday, which then delays the rest of our plans.

Hey ho!. Can't really complain, this is the first bad weather since we left the Crinan Canal on Thur 2 June. Still, we have started the run south.

Update, wind now reached one knot short of Gale Force 8 (33kts), blowing a hooley and the waves are coming over the outer wall of the harbour.

This enforced stop is giving us time to chill and relax, catching up with projects and blog etc. We have had an amazing time of it since departing Island Harbour 117 days ago.
