  • Jackson Hole Campground

    August 7, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 68 °F

Well, this campground is a MAJOR disappointment! We are packed in like sardines and no tents allowed. Turns out zero campgrounds in the vicinity allow tents. So Gordie went to the hotel with the Bartlett's to snuggle in for the night. We will keep busy in Jackson while we are here so it's all going to work out. Looking forward to our spacious National Park campsites!Read more

  • White water rafting!!!

    August 8, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 64 °F

We had a blast for our 8 mile run down the Snake River! Saw some bald eagles, marmots, osprey and a mink. Our guide, Tom was amazing! Will and Sammy were by far the wettest with Gordie not far behind. His blue and green hair streamed ink down his face as we went through Lunch Table rapids. The company takes pictures there so let's hope for a good one! What an awesome morning! Time for pizza!

Some questions we answered on our trip:
    1) What is the deepest canyon in the United States?
Will: Hells Canyon @ 7,993ft deep (border between ID, OR & WA))
    2) Where does a drop of water in the Snake River in Jackson Hole end up?
Sammy (age 9):She knew the ENTIRE water cycle! We learned a lot!
To answer the question we learned that: 2% ends up in the Pacific Ocean, 97% ends up on the fields of Idaho for irrigation, 1% ends up on Will!
    3) What crop does the Snake River irrigate?
Angus: Barley! aka: The currency on the river amongst the guides for helping each other out.

  • ¡¡¡Yellowstone!!!

    August 9, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

  • Grant Village Campground

    August 9, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 54 °F

  • Old Faithful Eruption!

    August 10, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 70 °F

Old Faithful certainly was faithful today! We had a great view of the geyser going off and everyone loved it. After, we walked the boardwalk around the pots of bubbling water. Patrick thought there was lava everywhere.

Big kids went for an extra 1/2 mile hike to the top of an observation point where they could see Old Faithful.

    Everyone earned lunch today!!!

  • Lone Star Geyser

    August 10, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 70 °F

During nap time 😴, the older group headed out by mountain bike 🚴 to see the Lone Star Geyser. It is a 12' high come and shoots up 60'! Some say it is the most beautiful in the park. It erupts every 2.5-3hrs so they brought snacks and activities in case they need to wait. It's a five mile bike ride RT.Read more

    August 11, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 59 °F

  • Mud Volcano

    August 11, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

Stinky, stinky sulfur! We learned that hydrogen sulphide creates the stinky egg-like smell by microbes converting it into an acid. The acid is a 1-2 pH like what you would find in a car battery. It can dissolve rocks and soil and creates the colors.

At this spot there were a few bison lazing about near the boardwalk. Patrick's favorite spot was the Dragon's Mouth Spring.

Gorgeous view of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Crowded because most areas around the canyon are closed, but worth it for the views. The Canyon is between 800-1,200 feet deep and 20 miles long.

  • Mount Washburn

    August 12, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 64 °F

Standing 10,243 feet high this is one of the most scenic hikes in the park. • Relaxing in the hammocks :)

    August 12, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 66 °F

These hammocks are the best! After their hike up Mount Washburn everyone needed a little hammock time.

Patrick preferred to make a train 🚂 track course for his 🚗 and 🚚🚑🚒🚓🏎.
