  • Our Luggage is MIA!

    13 de junho de 2019, Inglaterra ⋅ ⛅ 57 °F

Our luggage is still in Atlanta, and we're told it "might" be here by tomorrow evening. There were six of us whose luggage was misplaced, which is some sort of a record for a Voyageurs trip. Thanks to time spent filing a report with Delta (the London people were horrified), we only got 2 hours at Windsor, so Ellie didn't get to do the castle tour. We're hoping to see it on Saturday between concert performances. Honestly, this day has sucked in every possible way so far, but we're hoping things will improve tomorrow.Leia mais

  • London Day 2

    14 de junho de 2019, Inglaterra ⋅ 🌫 57 °F

After a visit to a local pharmacy and a Marks & Spencer's, we slept well last night. Fortunately, the clothes we bought fit well enough that we feel good about this morning's city tour and this afternoon's trip to the Tower. We see Wicked tonight, too. I hope our luggage is at the hotel when we return!

UPDATE! Jodie says our luggage will be delivered tonight between 7PM-2AM! YAY!

  • Trudyisms to Remember!

    14 de junho de 2019, Inglaterra ⋅ 🌫 57 °F

Bus tour guide comments: God bless his cotton socks. Poor muppet. Never brown in town. My loves. Flopsy bopsies. I might be old, but I'm not tired. You should go if you have time, which is none of my business. It's just A-1. Kisses! We might even think we have a Frenchman in our throat (a frog....coughing due to pollen). Oh, you lucky sausages. Stress is very unhealthy. I'll need to curtsy to you, but I need a new knee, so it won't be very low. Trudy says she's almost speechless that we get to perform at Windsor tomorrow because she has NEVER heard of such a thing. The weather has been a bit rough since you showed up, but we last had summer in 1972. I find the 1770s quite upsetting. I try to skip right over them. I used to fight the French. Oh, you're going to Paris next? It's such a lovely little city. Ladies, you must not look right (at the naked male statue). Gentlemen, you may look wherever you like. Ladybabes. Me, too, snap! Cooey = over here, please. The tower stories are quite disgusting, but you can step away from me. The stories are a bit character-forming. Tennis is middle class. Fishing is the the most popular sport. We aren't tall enough for basketball. The Scottish restaurant = McDonald's. Would you like some peace and quiet now? I'm ignoring that building on the right because it's the taxman. Prepare yourselves psychologically. I do tai kwan do and he knows it. Having been a tour guide since 1067... Hurry up and take your time. I need you to switch the rain off, please. Come on, my loves, let's go and see the royal palaces. We will glide together and then gather our rosebuds. Cheers = thank you for young people. You are a top egg. I'll tell you later. You'll be stronger mentally then. Trudy totally just lied to somebody to get us premiere parking at the Tower! Told the attendant that Bernd our driver spoke no English! "I'm talking!"...to the Tower Ravens. There IS such a thing as loving too much (Sir Walter Raleigh's head kept in wife's handbag for 29 years).Leia mais

  • Finally!

    14 de junho de 2019, Inglaterra ⋅ ☁️ 57 °F

Our luggage was at the hotel when we returned from seeing Wicked! While Ellery and I are very relieved to have our things back, we were a little irritated to discover that TSA or Delta airlines decided to search our bags (which I'm sure is policy for any random suitcases found in an airport) but they really didn't need to make such a mess of our stuff, and they really didn't need to steal our brand new TSA locks. I know it's minor, but this is just one more thing I wish I didn't have to experience. Tomorrow will be better.Leia mais

  • Windsor Choir & Band Performance

    15 de junho de 2019, Inglaterra ⋅ ⛅ 61 °F

St. John Baptist Church for the choir at 9:45 AM. The mural of the Last Supper behind us was given to the church by King George III. The painting used to hang in St. George's Chapel.

The band played at 1 PM on the grass moat in front of Windsor Castle. Apparently, the Royal Steward helped us get permission from the Queen herself to play there. Unfortunately, thanks to our performances and the queen's birthday jubilee, we weren't able to actually go inside Windsor Castle. The wait to even reach the front door was about 90 minutes, so we didn't have enough time. There were thousands upon thousands of people here.Leia mais

  • Leaving London...

    16 de junho de 2019, Inglaterra ⋅ ⛅ 52 °F

We were up at 4, loaded our bags at 4:45, ate breakfast, and then loaded the bus. Ellery's favorite part of our London tour was riding the Eye. She also liked seeing the Crown Jewels, but she did not like the amount of second-hand smoke we inhaled, and we both agree that there are far too many people here. We couldn't live in a city like this.Leia mais

  • Bateaux Mouches Tour of the Seine

    17 de junho de 2019, França ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Unfortunately, we were surrounded by the rudest group of tourists I've ever seen in my life. We couldn't escape their constant cackling - they weren't even paying attention to any of the translations we were given by our tour guide. of the many pictures I took tonight, these are basically the only ones that don't have the lot of them blocking our view with either their cameras or their bodies. So frustrating! My own personal nemesis tonight is the woman in red. I resorted to manspreading and throwing elbows to get her out of my lap. I have no idea where these ladies were from, but they obviously have no concept of personal space. Otherwise, it was a beautiful night.Leia mais
