• Litchfield Safari Park

We packed up camp at Edith Falls and moved our caravan to the day use area, so we could check out the upper pools at Edith falls before heading north. I knew what to expect having done the walk last night - but having 2 tired grumpy little people feeling unenthusiastic definitely made it much slower going! On the promise of snacks at the top we finally made it and were rewarded with a refreshing swim in the deep pool below the falls.

The walk down had us all feeling pretty hot again so it was a relief to be driving in the air conditioner for the next few hours as we made our way north to Litchfield National Park, with a quick stopover at Pine Creek for lunch and, you guessed it, icecreams.

Finally we reached Litchfield! The car thermometer was reading 41deg, so when we got out to look at the cluster of magnetic termite mounds it felt a little like we were breathing fire into our lungs. We ran into a family there we'd met at Mataranka who'd been in Darwin and surrounds for a few days already so chatted for a while and got their tips for things to do with kids.

When we reached our campground for the next 3 nights, the Litchfield Safari Park, we spent a while trying to choose the best site for starlink orientation and connectivity as I had to work the next day. Once set up we headed straight to pool, our favourite pol yet - resort style with a sloping entry and surrounded by lush green grass and tropical plants, with a fantastic view of the sunset as darkness fell.
