• Kidwelly castle

    Today we rode the bus to Haverfordwest, then caught the train to Carmethon, then to Kidwelly. The weather was great, sunny with a little breeze. We spent several hours exploring the castle. Then we went to The Gatehouse for late lunch. Jerry, Diana and I visited the church in town and sat in the gardens for a while. The last picture shows where the archers shot their arrows at the enemies storming the castle. We also discovered that a black cat is the symbol for Kidwelly because a black cat was the first living thing that was seen in the town after the plague in the Middle Ages. There are cat symbols everywhere, on doors, in windows , and next to signs of businesses. Diana and I thought that it was great.Read more
