    Caraz (Canyon Del Pato)

    2018年3月3日, ペルー ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

The morning after the hike to Laguna 69 I was feeling good and enjoying some quiet time. Then... dun dun dun, shark week happened. This led to some very uncomfortable altitude sickness as my body was not able to handle both conditions. Plus, I didn't know it yet but I was coming down with a gross cold as well. High heart rate, hot flashes, tiredness - no fun.

After a day in bed, I decided for a day trip to lower elevation with Michael my travel buddy. We headed to Caraz by Cambio (2hrs, 6 soles/$2). After having lunch we took a private taxi to Duck Canyon to explore. No ducks to be found but the canyon was still pretty impressive.

Later we understood why the taxi driver only took us to the start of the canyon (we walked a portion after that). The road has a lot of rock debris and is only one-lane. This makes the 35 tunnels of duck canyon a little scary... some of the tunnels have multiple curves and it wouldn't be fun to meet a car halfway through 😳😳😳
