    Bauple

    September 28, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 21 °C

First night stop a shady spot at Bauple. Not far from home but we are on the road again for a few weeks anyway.

  • Moree

    September 29, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

From Bauple we headed to the Sunshine Coast then officially headed on our way to Bendigo.

Deciding not to drive through Brisbane we headed out via Kilcoy to join up with the Gore highway at Toowoomba. This was a lovely drive with everything much greener than expected.

At the end of the day we ended up in Moree and a long soak in the artesian pools, nothing better at the end of a long days drive.

  • Day of travel

    September 30, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Next day was another big day on the road. The trip was highlighted by the highway lined with beautiful yellow flowers. Then a trip to see the silo art at Dunadoo .

The canola flowers also look lovely and even the ducks in the flood waters across the road.

Stopped overnight at road side rest area and shared a fire with other travellers.

  • Rochester

    October 1, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

    More Silo art at Rochester.

We might pick up the art trail on the way back up. Or we might head back up the coast, undecided. But first on to Bendigo to find our fortune in gold (only joking).

  • Bendigo

    October 3, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Well fortune consisted of lead shot and rubbish but no gold. We will have to keep trying. Expecting rain for the rest of the week so we plan to head off tomorrow.

Bendigo mixture of old and not old. Flowers everywhere particularly impressive were the tulips in the city centre.Read more

  • Boort

    October 4, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

We did the quick trip up to Boort to see the spanner art. Expecting someone to be there and not having the cash for the honesty box we headed off to find some silo art. Note to self carry cash. Learnings for another trip.

Couple of photos from the outside

And again. Most of these towns are very small and there are not many places taking advantage of the number of tourists following the trail. A coffee van would certainly be an added bonus.

  • Great Ocean Road

    October 5, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Today the trip was from Ararat and along the Great Ocean Road.

With the green fields, rolling hills, sheep and gorse you could easily mistake the country your in. But accompanying was canola flowers as far as the eye can see, so not NZ after all.

The cold and wind never detracts from the beauty of the Great Ocean Road. And for parts of today the weather got quite wild.

Bypassed Melbourne and southern beaches saved for another trip.

  • Waterfall Way

    October 8, 2022 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

The story goes like this. Navigating to Moree we noticed we were on the wrong road and fortunately ended up in Armidale.

After buying us new yeti cups for travelling we headed up the waterfall way.

  • Wet day

    October 9, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

This trip feel like all we are doing is avoiding the flooding. Luck ran out today. Little water over road and river up so unable to get into campsite.

So will head back to BBerg do the washing, clean the van and head off again.Read more
