• Kayaking on the fjord

    May 23 in Norway ⋅ ☁️ 45 °F

After strolling around Flåm, we saw a little shack that rented kayaks. What a perfect thing to do! We were the only ones out on this gigantic fjord, except for an occasional ferry going by. The rental was for for hours, and I foolishly told the attendant that we would only be out for an hour or so.
Four hours later, we pulled back into the dock!
The silence on the water was absolute.
I dragged my hands in and could only keep them there for a minute before I couldn't tolerate the cold any more.
    The water tasted like snow.
We packed by water falls and colonies of sea gulls. We passed by a small flock of goats (apparently, farmers being their goats to Flåm in the summer so they can eat everything they see and free range. They wear belts and have tracking devices (and are insured in case of loss!!!). At the end of the season, the farmers come back to fetch them.)
I have not experienced such an impactful feeling of awe in a long time. Simply Indescribable.
