    We did two moe dives at shark island ans southwest. We Even saw a sea turtle and loads of other fantastic creatures. Millions! And yes Anne Max and Phileas passed and are now certified open water scuba divers which means they can go diving until 18m deep all around the world (-)Læs mere

    Nightdive: bucked list check

    I didn’t know i had this on my bucked list. But some of the guys convinced me to join them on a night dive tonight. And it surely belongs in the top 10 of best things I ever did! I left the boys on the island to meet a friend and went by myself. What an amazing experience! Plants that come alive at night. Predators hunting with the help of our flashlights… mesmerising, extremely meditative and just absolutely gorgeous. No under water pictures so i will just store this on my hard drive.Læs mere

    Yes, we are on a tropical island

    Today restday. Boys slept long and we walked to shark bay having coffee and brunch en route. And than we arrived at this bay that you find in advertisements… weird to swim in a picture, with water that is just a touch too warm. We snorkeled and all three of us burned our backs while doing so. An other advantage of diving: you cannot get a sunburn. But all in all this place felt a bit unreal and the resort that was right there where people probably stayed all of their Holliday we agreed did not feel very thai. So for us one afternoon in this idealistic surrounding was plenty.Læs mere

    Dont stop now

    So we decided to get up once more at the crack of dawn to go diving. Because hey who knows when we will be able to do that again! Two dives with the three of us and a local guide. We felt like fish among millions of fish at pinakle and marvelled at the endless variations of coral etc at white rock. Admiring sea life small and big. I didn’t want t get up again. But well eventually you run out of air and have to. It was great to see how the boys enjoyed themselves now they are skilled and confident divers! So Koh Tao is really worth for its amazing diving. (Not so much for what is above sea level)Læs mere

    On our way back

    Yes our adventures slowly come to an end. First etappe on our way back is the night train from chumphon to bangkok. Ca 8 hours but we have something you can call a bed. There is ventilation (no aircon unfortunately) and we have brand new sleeping masks that are a lot of fun ;-)

    Made some new friends with dinner

    So we are in Bangkok. Didn’t really sleep in the train here so we had a relaxed day with thai massage at the massage school and some hanging around. I got a pedicure and a great restaurant tip from the girls there that i happily chatted with for over an our. So the tip was this great street food restaurant where they serve thai hotpot, grilled meat and papaya salad. A very popular place just around the corner from our hotel. Full with hip local people. So i convinced the boys, who were a bit hesitant to have dinner there. The food was absolutely delicious but very soon we got unwanted 6 legged visitors. Anne max said “i don’t mind street food but i need more mental preparation”. It was hilarious to see how panicked and revolted the boys became. But i admit when they were crawling through our vegetables and over the table i had enough myself. And the boys requested some plastic wrapped industrial food from the 7/11.Læs mere

    Grand Palace

    Since we couldn’t visit the palace when we arrived in thailand due to the royal birthday celebrations we joint the hundreds of tourists there today. Why kings have to show off with so much gold and glitter is still not entirely clear to me. We have seen so much more beautiful and touching places… but hey it is a lot of craftsmanship and a hole lot of grandeur.Læs mere

    That is it … we head back home leaving a lot unseen, untasted, un-smelled… there is plenty of thailand left for us to explore, so who knows we will return. It is too early to digest and reflect. But we absolutely loved thailand, the people, the food, travelling with the three of us was such a great and utterly relaxed and fun experience and yes we would love to return. For the time being we stuffed our bags with lots of spices to enjoy some of the flavours at home.Læs mere

    Stokholm

    Travelling is a waiting game. Now waiting in Stockholm for our transfer to amsterdam. Very funny to see how much more modern clean and well staffed with friendly people the bangkok airport was. Stockholm airport is decades behind Bangkok, who would have thought. Our first meeting here was with extremely bored looking security staff. Not one smile (we have gotten used to everybody smiling at you) and utterly unfriendly bordering rude. Welcome to Europe.Læs mere
