As always, my daughter Olivia has found us a fantastic place on Airbnb. The flight down was good, only a little turbulence. We are having dinner tonight at a place with live music. It's Melbourne, it's fantastic - we are near St Kilda, my first time (normally, I'm in the CBD). I love Melbourne!Read more

A walk to St. Kilda Beach and Luna Park to start the day. Then, a walk around the perimeter of the race track! It is impressively large. The entire precinct is fenced off so that you can't see inside, but they can't keep the sounds of the car engines behind the fence. The sound really gives you a thrill, and I couldn't wait to get inside. Once we finally entered the race track, we walked around, found a good spot on turn 11, and watched the F2s race and then the qualifying. After the track, we had a few cocktails and then back to our little Airbnb unit to eat dinner in.Read more

Race day!

On the track again today, fairly early. Woke up to a gorgeous clear blue sky and was looking forward to a brilliant day of racing. We got that, but we were very disappointed with the safety car finish! I would do this again, but we'll get seats in the stands next time. Having said that, the people around us were delightful (both days). They were so friendly and such good company. An experience I'd recommend to everyone. A big thank you to my daughter Olivia for organising. Oh, and I should have mentioned the fantastic aeroplanes, the Roulettes, and a Spitfire!Read more
