Old buildings and parks... remembering back to 1979-1982 when I was in high school. I remember being on the cross country team and practicing in the park behind school. We would have meets there too. One time I wasn't paying attention and ran right into the cannon, when I got up, I asked "who moved the cannon?" and everyone laughed. I went to the chapel almost every morning before school. Mary Poppins

Took Maggie, Mom and the Littles to see Mary Poppins at Alleman High School. We met my cousin, Julie, with her child, Addie.
I thought Mary Poppins flew with Magic but was told by Blaze (7 yrs) that it was just a zip line!Read more

Every time I return to visit Mom, I love to walk through Augustana College. This time I talked to 2 students who shared their majors and how they liked the school. They both liked the new buildings and teachers. Glad to see the changes.Read more

Festival of Trees Parade

Fun home town parade with many bands and cars with queens. Lots of huge balloons and trucks throwing out candy. The children left with more candy than on Halloween! A very cold day but fun times.
Traveler You were half a block away from us - where we were volunteering for crowd control! I would have brought Addie over had I known!

Taco Dinner with the Family

Every family gathering is so busy. There are nine children under the age of 7 from 2 families. 4 parents, 5 grandparents, 1 great grandmother, me (aunt), and a couple people visiting from Florida that are Kevin's sister and her daughter. There's never less than 20 for any meal! I love watching the interaction for a while, but then I usually go for a 4 mile walk to enjoy some silence.Read more

Walk back from Sacred Heart

Moline is getting cold! I wore long johns and 3 long sleeve shirts, as well as a hoodie and a jacket and gloves and a hat while walking back to Mom's house 😄 I was nice and warm!
I enjoyed the solitude and time to myself. I also have been enjoying the busyness of little people cooking in the kitchen, eating around the table, playing, coming and going and never knowing for sure what is going to happen next. I love that Maggie and Kevin are so hospitable and their house is always open to anyone who needs a place to stay. I met Metao, a seminarian, this morning who got tired driving and needed a place to sleep. I hope to also be this gracious in my life.Read more

Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
A very cold day in the low 30's with a wind so it seemed colder. I went for several short walks and raked leaves. Spent most of the day puzzling as we did a 1000 piece puzzle while food was so cooking. 24 people (I think) enjoyed the meal. Tomorrow we have "early Christmas" and do this ALL over again with the cousins over...we might hit 30 people!Read more

First Christmas

I have never had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas the day after Thanksgiving until this year. Kevin's sister and family are from Florida and are visiting now and wanted to share their gifts while they were here. This is a tradition here to have a First Christmas.
The leftovers became soup and little sandwiches. The Littles (youngest cousins) play like they have never seen each other and there are more conversations than I can keep track of. It was fun to watch.Read more

Great Visit

I had a wonderful time in Moline but the temperature is dropping and snow is predicted. The purpose of my trip was to fly with Mom to Maui for a week and then bring her back to the Pacific Northwest for a week to see her other son and daughter. The temperature in Maui is in the 80's so off we go!Read more
