    Katherine Gorge

    June 25, 2021 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 23 °C

Wow - what an amazing experience. Katherine Gorge, or Nitmiluk as it is traditionally know is just spectacular. It’s Indigenous name comes from the NitNit sound the cicadas make and Miluk means country. This diverse landscape is also a cultural landscape, where Jawoyn people live and work, continuing and sharing their culture. The river covers a vast area, including 13 impressive gorges carved from the ancient sandstone cliffs that glow in the changing light. Got to stop and have a swim in the second gorge.Read more
