Pimba, SA

1058 kms - Wow! What a day! We left early heading for the SA border hoping to get let across to head home. We got Marla and we were stopped by SA Border Police. We were granted a ‘pass through’ allowing us 72 hours to pass through SA. With this pass also came stipulations: we can not stay or stop for more than 1 hr in the towns of Coober Pedy (so we had to cancel our booking at the underground cave hotel), Ceduna or Port Augusta, we can not be around other people and have to keep to ourselves (so no staying at Mum and Dads), only 1
of us can enter a shop for essential items only, we have to wear face masks in public and the worst one yet, we have to have a COVID swab within the first 24 hrs, again at day 5 and again at day 13! We are also going to have to confirm with VIC Pol if we have to self isolate for 14 days once getting home! Safe to say it has been a long, stressful, emotional and draining day.... not the end to an amazing holiday we were hoping for... so we got a room at Spuds Roadhouse in Pimba and are looking forward to a hot shower and good nights sleep.
