  • Bruges (Brügge), Belgium

    June 5, 2022 in Belgium ⋅ 🌧 16 °C

    Dag Brugge! :)

Not as mysterious as in the movie with all the tourists, but it seems real that it gets misty sometimes. In the afternoon the top of the buildings were covered in fog.

Besides, around the countryside where we stayed at a cute B&B, we met very friendly people which helped us out with some Flamish words :)Read more

  • Dunkerque: historical site and gateway

    June 6, 2022 in France ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Impressive site and museum: In 1940 the biggest evacuation mission (operation Dynamo) happened here when the German army sorrounded the French and the British soldiers around this town, the beach and the port. More than 300 ths. soldieres were evacuated to England by boat including by sports and fishing boats of volunteers that came to help. Nevertheless, it was a big tragedy for many French soldieres that couldn't be saved, ended as prisoners or died on the way.

For us it was also the port to leave to England by car ferry...

  • Cambridge, a dream for every student

    June 7, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

The famous university of Cambridge and its multiple colleges shape the city centre. Wherever you go, you find churches, huge memorial and assembly halls, libraries, dining halls and student dorms. Just sometimes you find shady tunnels that turn into a sauna in summer...
If you want to spend a fortune, you can also take a boat ride throughout the city (it is called punting).

  • The wedding @North Mymms Park

    June 9, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Beautiful couple (Shreena & Prash) and an exciting experience to attend a traditional Indian wedding (at least in British context). I guess without the roadmap they handed out, we would have been lost with all the steps of the ceremony and what to expect next. The venue and the huge property around the main house is located in the countryside close to London and a great place for the >300 people.

I personally loved the colourful dresses, the traditional ceremony, the food and that eventually everybody, young and old, was eager to dance. The DJ was supported by a group of live drums which made it really unique and pushed everybody to keep on dancing till midnight (when the venue closed).

  • Portsmouth: all about boats

    June 10, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Obviously, this historic town is about boats, especially tall boats, very tall boats:

Some are very old, some are real warships from the navy (it is THE navy harbour in all Europe), some are ferries and some are just huge and must cost a fortune.

Even the tower is called 'Spinnaker' tower referring to a particular sail on sailing boats.

  • Stunning coastside @ Birling Gap

    June 11, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

I am not sure whether I have seen cliffs on the coastside that high in any other country and such a grass green landscape around 🌱🐑🐐🐑🌱

Loved to hike up the cliffs, have a picknick in the sun and watch the people walking at the beach down there.Read more
