Day 1

Headed off early while still dark with rain showers all the way till Pt Wakefield. Sun came out and the crops are poking up in lovely emerald paddocks.

Katherine to Lake Argyle

Left Katherine and crossed into WA with huge escarpments lining the road.

We trekked along to the lookout and Durak homestead museum, learning about the dam and how it was built.

Boarded the boat at 11:30am and headed off. Lunch was provided as we fed fish, spotted bird life and crocodiles! The tour gave us an insight into the vastness of the lake. We also fossicked for zebraもっと詳しく
Kununurra

Up with the sun at 5:30 again! Headed into Kununurra for a great coffee and then markets. Stocked up on fresh fruit and veg and delicious croissant - who would have thought in Kununurra! Also a candleもっと詳しく

We were up early with all the birdsong and headed out to Zebedee springs. A warm spring feeds a series of pools surrounded by rainforest Kimberley-style! A dip and then back to Emma Gorge to hike upもっと詳しく

Back on the road today! Early morning and we have stopped not far from the Bungle Bungles ready for a big day exploring tomorrow.

Arrived at an amazing campsite just above Broome and here we plan to stay for three nights.

We spent the morning in Broome, shopping and checking out the local museum. This had an incredible shell collection that the Queen even came to see!
Then joined a sunset dinner cruise.
Willy Creek Pearl Tour

We joined a pearl tour this morning - three hours of great information and experiences at a family run and owned pearling business outside of Broome.

Eighty mile beach

Another early morning and we arrived at lunch time at Eighty mile beach - a very long beach with lots of shells and fishing being the main attraction here.

Spent the morning on the beach as the boys fished - nothing caught! Lots of shells collected and a very quick wallow in shallow water due to sea snakes and irakandji risk!!

Spent another lazy day with blue skies and nice breeze reading, relaxing and walking- with some more shell collecting!
Cleaverville

Left early and headed to Cleaverville, stopping at Port Hedland on the way. The port is a deep water port for boats to load up with iron ore.

The campsite is along quite a stretch of the coast. We are camped at one end and rode to the other, checking out some swimming beaches along the way. The tide goes out along way here also, with theもっと詳しく

We took a short drive to Karratha for coffee and some retail therapy then onto Dampier caravan park. It is very close to an iron ore loading facility which sounds like a fire-breathing dragon 24/7!!もっと詳しく

After breakfast at Soak we travelled out to the Murijuga National park to look at some rock paintings and some coves to possibly swim. The wind was blowing the wrong way so we headed back to the beachもっと詳しく
Tom Price

We took a left turn out of Karratha and headed to Tom Price for three nights. This is a mining town close to Karijini National Park. Not part of the original plan but by all accounts worth doing!もっと詳しく

Back to the park today. We left as it started raining in Tom Price but it cleared as we drove out. Headed to the Dales Gorge area to do the Fortescue Falls, Circular Pool and a swim at Fern Pool.
