    7 de julho de 2023, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Boarded the boat at 11:30am and headed off. Lunch was provided as we fed fish, spotted bird life and crocodiles! The tour gave us an insight into the vastness of the lake. We also fossicked for zebra rocks, swam with beer and champagne provided, complete with a floating tray of dip and biscuits! Witnessed the sunset and beautiful colours of the outback sky. A fab day!Leia mais

  • Kununurra

    8 de julho de 2023, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Up with the sun at 5:30 again! Headed into Kununurra for a great coffee and then markets. Stocked up on fresh fruit and veg and delicious croissant - who would have thought in Kununurra! Also a candle from a cute boy who has his own market stall 😊
Out to Mirima National Park for some mini Bungle Bungles. Along the way we stopped at The Grotto for a swim and then checked out Wyndham where five rivers converge - just like the Mekong Delta without all the farmers! Then on the El Questro! It’s been on my ‘must do’ list and so glad these extra days have given us time to do so. We are booked into a v fancy tent at Emma Gorge for the night. So a buffet dinner tonight and then we are onsite for Emma Gorge walk tomorrow.

  • El Questro

    9 de julho de 2023, Austrália ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

We were up early with all the birdsong and headed out to Zebedee springs. A warm spring feeds a series of pools surrounded by rainforest Kimberley-style! A dip and then back to Emma Gorge to hike up to the waterfall and swim. So stunning!!Leia mais

  • Dampier

    21 de julho de 2023, Austrália ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

We took a short drive to Karratha for coffee and some retail therapy then onto Dampier caravan park. It is very close to an iron ore loading facility which sounds like a fire-breathing dragon 24/7!! Apart from that, some places to swim at high tide (rocky again) and things to explore over the next few days.Leia mais

    22 de julho de 2023, Austrália ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

After breakfast at Soak we travelled out to the Murijuga National park to look at some rock paintings and some coves to possibly swim. The wind was blowing the wrong way so we headed back to the beach near the caravan park to swim and read.Leia mais

    24 de julho de 2023, Austrália ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

We took a left turn out of Karratha and headed to Tom Price for three nights. This is a mining town close to Karijini National Park. Not part of the original plan but by all accounts worth doing! Looking forward to exploring!Leia mais

  • Karijini National Park

    25 de julho de 2023, Austrália ⋅ 🌬 15 °C

Up early and headed into Karijini. There’s three main groups of gorges so we tackled two first up. Weano Gorge was a narrow gorge ending at Handrail pool - a pool completely enclosed by huge cliffs.
Next was Hancock Gorge - many steps down and some wading through very cool water to a narrow passage (where you can do the spider walk) leading to Kermit’s pool. A very busy gorge but so worth it!
We went on to Joffre Falls - a good walk around the rim where you can see the top of the waterfall and then descend down into the gorge itself and walk back up to waterfall face. Only a small trickle at this time of year.
To finish the day we headed to Kalamina Falls. A climb down into the gorge and to the right was a short walk to a lovely small waterfall. To the left was a beautiful walk along the gorge floor, following the water as it trickles along, over small drops and plates of huge rock. There’s some deeper pools along the way to skirt around and a large pool at the end. A very quick swim here as it was v cold and out! My favourite of the day 🤩
    A big day!
