• A mooch around Brixen/Bressanone

    November 1, 2025 in Italy ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

All of the place names in the area are written in both Italian and German but most people in the area speak German. Apart from the pasta & Aperol Spritz, it doesn't really feel like Italy at all! Today we went to Brixen/Bressanone which is the oldest town in the South Tyrol. As it was after 12 when we arrived, we weren't surprised to see all of the shops closed but most of the restaurants and cafes were also shut - it turns out it is All Saints Day today 🤦 Thankfully, a handful of restaurants on the main square were open so we had a nice lunch before I had to make do with some window shopping - probably the safest form of shopping for me! We also came across the Pharmacy Museum which we had to pay a visit to on behalf of our good friend Dr Peter Hirst 🤪 The building has been a pharmacy since the 18th century and they just never threw anything away - we didn't really understand most of what we were looking at but it was a great excuse to see inside one of the stunning buildings ❤️Read more
