Linderhof Palace & Oberammergau

Today we visited the grounds of the Linderhof palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the 19th century. As well as the palace, which was his refuge away from Munich city, he built extensive gardens filled with smaller cottages, a Moroccan kiosk and a grotto. Unfortunately, I didn't read the website properly and most of the smaller buildings were closed for renovation. Also, the plants and statues were all covered and the fountains switched off for winter (I keep forgetting it is now November)🤦 So it wasn't as an impressive visit as I had hoped but we still managed to enjoy the park and have a picnic in the sun. To avoid returning to the campsite too early, we stopped by the small town of Oberammergau on the way back.
