Once again Virgin Atlantic is our airline. Time to check in and we on our way!
Travelling in style!

Upper Class baby! An incredible experience from the start with amazing food, comfy seat and truly fantastic staff! We love you all.
Looking down at the ice!

Flying over the ocean towards Newfoundland and flying over the most amazing ice flows! Had to ask a member of crew if it definitely was ice!
And there was presents!

Our fabulous FSM gave us some gifts to bring home!
The little feet say “pinched from” on one foot and “Virgin Atlantic” on the other foot!
Riding the metro and amazing lift!

We rode the metro from the airport to our hotel. When we arrived at our station we found the most amazing old lift!
Arrived at the hotel

We arrived at the Holiday Inn, Crystal City. It’s a really nice hotel room with a massive super king bed. Good facilities and quiet.
Shopping

Visited a couple of US shops. Target was a great shop, expensive but well stocked with lots of goods. The Dollar Tree was disappointing. Empty shelves some of which were dirty and or rusty. WeRead more
Pentagon…. Well 2 sides of it!

Walked passed 2 sides of the pentagon! Huge is not the word!
On the bus to Annandale

Hopped on the 29N bus out to Annandale to see Matt’s home from 40 years ago. The weather is amazing
Matts old neighbourhood!

Spent a beautiful morning in the sunshine exploring the home that Matt lived in for 2 years as an 8 year old. Many stories of long hot summers!
A fire damaged house

Around the corner from Matt’s old house we found this burnt out shell. The upper floors completely destroyed with just the lower stone walls and the boiler left as evidence.
The Arlington Cemetery

Beautiful, somber, thought provoking. Not only a tribute to many American service personnel but also to many events that happened around the world.
The Washington Monument

A spectacular monument dominating the National Mall. Unfortunately the lift was broken so we could not go up but still a great sight.
Most important house in Washington!

We finally got to “almost” see the White House!
Due to the inauguration there was a lot of fencing and a massive stage and all of the entrances were blocked off but we tried to catch a glimpse!

A great collection of planes and space craft.

A huge memorial to Eisenhower. A commander and a president of great importance.
Library of Congress

The Library of Congress. Home to the largest collections of books, video and audio in the world. An amazing building with a fascinating collection.
Tour of the Capitol

The Supreme Court, New and Old

We visited the Original Supreme Court that was inside the Capitol Building and as we left the Capitol we walked by the new Supreme Court building.
The National Archive

We saw the founding documents, The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights, which were very interesting. Oddly there is also a Magna Carta on Display.
Lincolns Memorial

Everyone that we talk to tells us that this is the nations favourite President. Much of today was about him so we started with his memorial
