Stavanger, Norway, felt like a city that never wanted the day to end. With sunrise at 4:33 a.m. and sunset at 10:33 p.m., the long summer daylight gave us plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful harbor city.

A visit to the Norwegian Petroleum Museum helped bring that history to life, with interesting exhibits explaining how the oil industry transformed both the city and the country.

The harbor was a highlight, lined with colorful buildings, boats, and outdoor cafes. Along the waterfront, we also discovered the footprints honoring Nobel Peace Prize winners and peace advocates, a unique reminder of Norway's connection to promoting peace around the world. The Peace Prize is the only prize awarded in Norway while the others are awarded in Sweden.
