Loy Krathong - Lichterfestival 🪷🌝💥

Auf diesen Tag habe ich mich riesig gefreut! Immer am 12 Vollmond wird in Thailand das simesische Lichterfestival Loy Krathong gefeiert. An diesem Abend danken sie der Göttin des Wasser und entschuldigen sich beim Wasser, wie unsorgsam es teilweise behandelt wird. Weiter zollen sie dem Buddha ihren Respekt und feiern das Ende der Regenzeit.
Als Vorbereitung fürs Festival haben wir Krathong vorbereitet. Das sind kleine mit Blumen geschmückte Boote. Also genau mein Style 😁
Die Boote haben wir aus dem Stamm eines Bananenbaums gefertigt und die Deko waren lokale Blumen, sowie Bananenblätter. 🌺🌸Es kommt immer eine Kerze und drei Räucherstäbchen auf ein Krathong. In unserem Gebiet gab es sogar einen Wettbewerb, welches Dorf das schönste Krathong bastelt. Dafür haben sie 5 Stunden Zeit 😮
Das Festival hat gemütlich gestartet. Wir haben unsere Krathongs in den Fluss geschoben und danach wurden die ersten Dorfbewohner richtig überdreht. Sagen wir mal, dass sie nicht den sichersten Umgang mit Feuerwerk haben. Mich hat bereits die Plastikhülle eines Feuerwerks getroffen und ja, es hat sich wie Gummischrot angefühlt 😅
Das war erst der Anfang von Feuerwerkwahnsinn!!! 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️

Der nächste Stopp war das Communityzentrum des Tals. Es gab reichlich Essen, verschiedene Spielstände, Shows und alles war geschmückt mit den schönen farbigen Laternen. Ash und ich haben unsere erste Lichterlaterne mit einem Wunsch versehen in den Nachthimmel steigen lassen.

Jetzt kommt der richtig irre Teil des Abends! 😮‍💨 Letzer Halt war der Tempel. Dort wurde reichlich mit Feuerwerk um sich geworfen und ja, ich hatte Angst um meine Haare... Da haben wir nochmals schön Laternen in den Himmel steigen lassen und plötzlich aus dem Nichts höre ich einen lauten. Hinter mir wurde ein selbst gebastelter Zuckerstock abgefeuert und das Geräusch ähnelte einem Drachen 🐉🐲
Was auch immer drin war, hat sich wie ein Ascheregen über uns verteilt und wir sind davon gerannt. Natürlich haben uns die lokalen Leute dafür laut ausgelacht!
Das ging noch lange so weiter und man wusste nie, wann wieder einer losgeht. Da es selbst gebaute Zuckerstöcke aus Schwarzpulver war, wusste man nie, wie gross und wie lange es die Feuerasche regnet. Es war MAXIMAL unchillig, weil man nicht die Möglichkeit hatte, das Spektakel aus der Ferne zu beobachten. Ich habe mich dank hinter einem Baum versteckt und von dort zugeschaut 😂

Es war einfach nur wahsinnig! Es hat keine Feuerwehr oder ein Spital in der Nähe. Da habe ich an meine beiden Brüder, die in der Feuerwehr sind, gedacht. Überrschanderweise passiert jedoch relativ selten ein Unfall. Zum Glück!
Das war ein krasses Erlebnis haha

I was really looking forward to this day! The Simesian festival of lights Loy Krathong is always celebrated on the 12th full moon in Thailand. On this evening, they thank the goddess of water and apologise to the water for how carelessly it is sometimes treated. They also pay their respects to the Buddha and celebrate the end of the rainy season.
In preparation for the festival, we have prepared Krathong. These are small boats decorated with flowers. Exactly my style 😁
We made the boats from the trunk of a banana tree and decorated them with local flowers and banana leaves. 🌺🌸There is always a candle and three incense sticks on a krathong. In our area, there was even a competition to see which village made the most beautiful krathong. They have 5 hours to do this 😮
The festival got off to a cosy start. We pushed our krathongs into the river and then the first villagers got really excited. Let's just say that they don't have the safest way of handling fireworks. I've already been hit by the plastic casing of a firework and yes, it felt like rubber buckshot 😅
That was just the beginning of firework madness!!! 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️

The next stop was the valley's community centre. There was plenty of food, various game booths, shows and everything was decorated with the beautiful coloured lanterns. Ash and I launched our first lantern into the night sky with a wish on it.

Now comes the really crazy part of the evening! 😮‍💨 The last stop was the temple. There were plenty of fireworks being thrown around and yes, I was worried about my hair... Once again, we let lanterns rise into the sky and suddenly, out of nowhere, I heard a loud noise. A homemade candy cane was fired behind me and the sound resembled a kite 🐉🐲
Whatever was inside spread over us like a shower of ash and we ran away. Of course, the local people laughed out loud at us!
This went on for a long time and you never knew when another one would go off. As it was homemade candy canes made from black powder, you never knew how big and how long it would rain the fire ash. It was MAXIMUM unpleasant because you didn't have the opportunity to watch the spectacle from a distance. I hid behind a tree and watched from there 😂

It was just insane! There's no fire brigade or hospital nearby. I thought of my two brothers who are in the fire brigade. However, accidents happen relatively rarely. Fortunately!
