Petra - Day 2

Second day in Petra and we definitely got our steps and vitamin D in.

We met a lovely couple from Glasgow, James and Nicola, when we did the tour in Amman and turns out they're staying at the same hotel as us. We met up with them today at breakfast and decided to do the walk through Petra together.

We had a great guide who took us via jeep to the 'back entrance' to the Monastery. He showed us all the best photo stops and gave us all the history of how Petra has exchanged hands over the years and various empires. He was a bit annoyed we didn't want to pay the extra 150 JOD (£140) for the extended tour... but by that point we'd already walked about 5 hrs in the sun so we felt pretty justified. The whole route was absolutely stunning and it was an incredible day.

After Petra we went to The Cave Bar and had a few drinks, then onto a rooftop bar for more drinks and then onto dinner with some camel burgers (delicious). Was such a fun evening and we really enjoyed swapping travel tips with our new pals.

Also, I made a cat friend at the Petra treasury, so all-in-all a great day.Weiterlesen
