• Wadi Rum

    8. Mai 2025 in Jordanien ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

Drove further south today to the Wadi Rum desert, just before the border to Saudi Arabia.

We had an 8hr 4x4 jeep tour booked and a night camping under the stars with our Bedouin hosts. The desert is spectacular, half red sand and half white, and has been used to film loads of big movies like The Martian, Star Wars and Laurence of Arabia. We drove around different sights, stopping to feed camels, climb dunes and sandboard. For lunch our host cooked us a delicious vegetable dish in a cave and we had a siesta which was very welcome as it was HOT.

By 5pm we were exhausted so headed to our camp to watch the sunset and then enjoyed a traditional Bedouin meal that had been cooked underground, drank lots of tea and played some Seega (bedouin chess) in the sand. Our bed was open to the elements so we enjoyed a night under the stars and it was amazing. The moon was bright so we set our alarms for 4am to see the milky way and caught a few shooting stars. Another 10/10 experience.
