Reading, packing, making lists

Or rather, adding to lists already made!

Have just read ‘The Caliph’s House’ by Tahir Shah: a mixture of joy, fascination and frustration - and no doubt the journey of the renovation of the house in Casablanca was for him too (and for his surely long-suffering wife too, although we don’t hear much from her). His story has certainly given me an insight into life in Morocco: how people think and work, the influence of the “jinns” (spirits in the Arabian world), and certainly a real appreciation of what it is to be a foreigner in this country.

I DID like the line in the book that said: “a life not filled with severe learning curves was no life at all”.
