Day #165 Azerbaijan

Another coach trip, but further into the mountains.

Started with the Candy Cane mountains in the greater Caucasus mountain range. Really cool with lots of rainbow coloured rocks. It reminded me of the canyons in Kazakhstan.

Then to the Red Village in the Quba region. This is a settlement of the mountain Jews, which is one of the only Jewish settlements outside of Israel and the US. However, it was basically under armed guard and you couldn't visit any of the synagogues because of the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Last stop, we went to Shahdag ski resort in a beautiful mountain region. We went up the cable car and had a go on the 'rollercoaster'. It was a lot faster than we thought it was going to be.Read more
