• Lake Tekapo, Lavender Farm, Hot Springs

    17. februar, New Zealand ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

It was a full day! Started with a drive to the stunning Lake Tekapo. Its a glacier lake with turquoise water thats created by fine, suspended sediment (glacial flour) from surrounding glaciers. Our day was overcast with some rain so the colour just didn't show true in the pictures. Then we were off to a lavender farm and indulged in lavender ice cream. Decided to hit the hot pools and enjoy the scenic views of lake Takepo.
After having an amazing steak dinner we walked to our pier to watch the blue penguins (yes penguins in NZ!) come onto the beach from the water for the night. However sadly none came tonight, but there was a penguin in the rocks crying out. Sometimes the ones in the rocks come out at night on to the beach. The ones in the rocks are moulting. They were probably too embarrassed to come out. 😳 😔 😟
