  • Full moon in Hoi An. Bucket list ✔️

    March 14, 2025 in Vietnam ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

I have been thinking about this night for months. Being in the ancient town of Hoi An with all of the lanterns, the colours and the full moon. We went on a small boat to release some lanterns (candles) in the river. Floating candles are part of the lantern tradition, where lanterns are released onto the Hoai River. This practice is deeply rooted in local culture and is often associated with spiritual and symbolic meanings, such as wishing for happiness and good fortune. They are lit before being floated on the river, creating a breathtaking spectacle, especially during the full moon. Lanterns (candles) symbolize hope, peace, and prosperity, and releasing them into the Hoai River is believed to carry wishes for happiness, good fortune, and renewal. It was a wonderful night and the full moon couldn't have been more spectacular. ✨️ 🌕Read more

Today was a travel day. Left Hanoi and travelled by 12 person shuttle bus for 2 hours to arrive at Ninh Binh. After settling in we took the bikes and toured our little area called Tam Coc. This is a much slower pace that we've been experiencing so it's quite refreshing. Our bungalow is outside of the little town so we are well immersed into the village.Read more

  • Last day in Vietnam 🇻🇳❤️🇻🇳

    March 23, 2025 in Vietnam ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

It's been quite the ride. Vietnam has been a wonderful experience. Bit of a whirl wind with the busyness and the chaos of some places. But overall it's fascinating to see it's history, culture and landscapes. The people are great and always seem to go out of their way to show a helping hand. We've seen alot. Mostly good, however with this type of travel there will be those times when you experience/see something that makes you feel so fortunate to have the life we have. Travel can break down stereotypes and help us to learn about diversity as well as remind us that deep down, we all have the same basic needs and desires.Read more
