    Picton, is a picturesque port town on the northern tip of South Island along Queen Charlotte Sound. It's the gateway to the Marlborough Region, which is a world renowned producer of fine wines, most notably sauvignon blanc. A major transportation hub for NZ exports, the surrounding natural beauty & many nearby inlets make this city a popular holiday destination. This morning it's pouring down rain! Normally 4.5 thousand population. Very lush green landscape. Lots of pine trees. Grapes are harvested in February.Read more
